Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

CanadaThis is the most expensive accommodation I have paid for on the Shikoku pilgrimage so far. This would be my 14th accommodation. For this price, I would expect dinner and breakfast to be provided for free. For much less than this price, I received dinner and breakfast. so it is in comparison to the other lodging and offerings that I do not consider it a good value for what I received. No complaints whatsoever however about the property and the hostess.
It was central and well situated on the Pilgrim path.

Azumi, the owner of Kochi-no-ya presented our 2 familes a great comfort where we could stay safe in the first trip to Kochi prefecture. Even during the Japanese high season, she was kind and considerate enough to help reserve the bus transport and nice local restaurant that serves oishii tataki and draft beer:) She didn't even hesitate to introduce nice local people and farmers and other valued informations. We already started dreaming to come back to this beautiful Aki city again to make a friendship with such a nice and sincere people who truly have their affection and pride in their home town and their lovely nature. We felt at home. We stayed in the spacious tatami room with the garden view. The futons were very comfortable. The place has retro feel with the communal kitchen and bathroom. Three times a week, the hostel has a bar at night, and we visited with the owner and guests. It was a lot of fun!
