Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayNothing major to point out. Only that it was somewhat warm in the bed area (could maybe have been better ventilated) and a little cold in the other rooms (maybe some more heaters). But that was mostly because i was there in late autumn. Its a luxury problem after all.
I liked how welcoming the staff was. Emi was a great host and helped out with everything plus a little extra like travel advice and so forth. The staff made hard efforts to keep it clean and neat at all times. I stayed there for 5 nights and i was very satisifed with how it went. There were 2 showers, 2 toilets and a machine outside for washing clothes. (The laundromat was a 2 min walk from there) The kitchen had all the tools needed and the living room was a great place to meet other travellers. I mostly met people either on early morning or late evening. As for the location, it was located very close tp Nijo castle. This is a place worth checking out if you're into history and culture. It was a 1-2 hour walk from arashiyama (also highly recommended to visit). Maybe 2 hour walk from kyoto station. Somewhat 1 hour walk to the nishiki market if you cut through the imperial palace. (A lot of good restaurants and interesting shops. This is the area you wanna go if you want to find bars and clubs.) Allthough its worth mentioning that kyoto is mainly known for bars, Osaka has better stages for clubs. The point is most temples was at least 1 hour walk from there. Its important to keep in mind that Kyoto is a huge city with scattered temples all around, so no matter where you live, you will be far from everything. Having that said, there was a bicycle rental a 10 minute walk from the hostel. You could rent a bike there and store it outside the hostel if you would like. There are also train stations and buses from place to place. (Buses can be confusing if you dont know the language) also taxi's are very hard to find in Kyoto unless you are already at a very crowded tourist place. I was walking for hours without seeing one, so a bike is recommended for the easiest and cheapest way to get around. I recommend this stay if you would like to travel all around kyoto.

NetherlandsThe smell from the room 😬
It was alright overall. The storage next to bed is very handy. Lucky that I was able to catch the fleamarket on the 25th of the month. I recommend checking the flea market if you could!

United StatesWifi is weak.
The property is beautiful, right across a small temple. There’s plenty if food a bars around the area. The space felt clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The shared space is comfy and a good spot to meet other travelers. I extended my stay two nights as a result

Overall everything was great, the pods where nice, clean and sound proof. You also have a great onsen inhouse, with a great sauna, a hot wirlpool and a coldbath. You also get full set of bathing utensil (gel/razor/towles) as well as fresh hotel cloths each day.

FranceProbably the worst hostel I've been to. - the hostel wasn't heated except for the rooms. - the laundry machine is outside and there is no dryer nor ways to dry the laundry - the whole venue is not isolated - the staff are just not here at all (even at check in or check out time) and just leave papers at the reception to communicate with clients... In general, unless budget is your only criteria, I would really advise you to avoid this hostel.
The bed was spacious enough to store my bags
