Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThe price.... a little bit too high.
I was on a 32-day Japan trip. This hotel is one of the best hotels I stayed, especially the restaurant open for all meal, The hotel is just located 1 minute walk from train station(s).

NetherlandsThe rooms seem to have been used by smokers in the past. I was able to be re-located to another room when the first room that I tried had a weird smell to it. This might not be the case when the hotel is more fully booked, however. YMMV.
The hotel is super conveniently located right next to the trainstation. It has a buffet-breakfast which is quite satisfactory and they have washing-machines available and the staff is very helpful, able to help with calling taxi-services to pick you up from, for example, a remote onsen.

AustraliaBreakfast didn’t have a huge amount of options for a buffet, but we enjoyed it. Not so cheap for a remote town, but convenience to the station was worth it.
Large sized room by Japan standards with couches to sit on, right next to the Shinkansen station, so couldn’t be more convenient for luggage. Walk of 15-20 mins to Samurai houses / museums, which we enjoyed, even in winter.

BelgiumThe only thing that would make it better would be an onsen.
Loved every bit here. When I arrived it was snowing in beautiful fluffy flakes❤️ It was literally 20 steps from the JR train exit to the hotel entrance, so even in a blizzard you’d be able to go back and forth without problem. Staff struggled with English but solved this with a simple instruction card, it was very cute. They did their best and everything was completely clear. The room was very big compared to other places I had been with a sofa and coffee table that seat 2 people easily. The bath was very enjoyable, breakfast was small but delicious, the smoked fish was really good. You have a view of the square in front of the train station so lots of things and people to observe. I really recommend staying here as the town has interesting history itself but also has a good and fast connection to Akita City.

ThailandNothing, everything was perfect, except that during our stay the snow on the street was melting down, so it was a bit difficult to walked around the city, but that wasn't about the hotel anyway.
Superb location, just right outside the train station. The staff were polite and accommodated everything. The room itself was comfortable with ample of space, especially comparing to to Japanese standard. The restaurant and meal was also good for dinner. Finally the walking to the samurai village is around 10-15 mins walk.

NorwayBreakfast ended a little early, 9 o'clock. So we never got to sleep in. (Mostly because I love potato salad and didnt want to miss it.) Also, the microwave is in the hallway which might be a bit awkward, but not really a problem.
The food was good, both breakfast and dinner. Also relatively cheap. The location was fantastic! The room was much bigger than anticipated, beds were really comfortable, and the bathroom was great.

MalaysiaThe room is slightly small. Other than that, everything is fine. Limited USB charger.
Location of the hotel. It is just next Kakunodate Station (10 foot steps). The hotel has coin laundry machine, microwave, vending machine and restaurant. Next to the hotel, there is a mart and souvenirs shops.

SingaporeIf you are looking for things to do after 1900. There won’t be much options due to the small town.
The hotel is located right beside the JR Kakunodate Train station. Its closed proximity means catching a train or going to the convenient store is as simple as just exiting the hotel and turning right and you will be there in 10 seconds. While the breakfast did not have large selection due to the small number of guests, it does offers of a variety of Japanese and European breakfast. If you are intending to stay in your room most of the time, it has high speed internet on the orders of 100mbps despite the small town.

Singapore- The staff were helpful but the staff will have some difficulties explaining in English for complex travel questions.
- The walk from the train station was less than a minute away. Just need to turn left after exiting the station entrance. there is coin laundry - There are essentials toiletries in the toilet - Good wifi - There is a convenient store near the hotel. - There are some eating places nearby but the eating place close early during the autumn season. - Check in and out was easy. - There is a mini fridge - The beds were comfortable

SingaporeThe hotel was right outside the train station, literally a 10 seconds walk. Location is fantastic. The room was also very clean and comfy and spacious. There is also a restaurant in the hotel for meals. The breakfast is buffet style, maybe abit basic but was nevertheless great. Was buying the akita inu plushies at the in house souvenier store in the hotel and the staff was patient with us, she took a few out and let us choose the ones we wanted to buy. Really like the Japanese hospitality experienced in the hotel. There is nothing to dislike.
