Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOn site parking is available. However directions are lacking and Google map pointed to the wrong spot. So hard to find initially.
Very good hot spring hotel in Dogo, centrally located, direct access to shops. Good service. Breakfast was good too.

JapanNothing, we were thoroughly impressed!
Lovely Wa-modern design with artisan’s work exhibited in lobby showcases. Friendly attentive staff. Comfortable rooms, wonderful hot springs bath. Free piano concert in lobby during the evening - very nice! Perhaps the best location in Dogo Onsen - on a slight hill, but with an elevator that takes you right down to the main shopping/restaurant area. Parking onsite. I will definitely stay here again!

Hong KongNothing at all.
Spacious room, super clean and thoughtful. The Japanese mattress is cozy. It's a bonus to wear the traditional clothes for hot spring. The public bath has the best view.

Canada1. Bit hard to get correct direction on Google Maps from tram station which takes you to the back of the hotel through a sharp incline and may be difficult for older folks with luggage. Wish there were a simple direction map send from hotel after booking. 2. Some junior staff members seem to have been trained that foreigners do not understand a word of Japanese. No effort was made to verbally explain how dinner is conducted except we were shown a laminated sheet with short English sentences. One confusing sentence was that steak will not be brought to the table was emphasized when we did not even know if steak is included in our booking. Senior staff were more experienced and conducted themselves well.

AustraliaNothing that was not liked about the property. Just one tip for guests navigating to parking lot… google maps directed us to the lower level shortcut entry from the shopping street which is not correct. To find the parking lot, it helped to pin the parking space between Dogo Miyu and Yamatoya Besso.
The hotel is modern but we were able to stay in the traditional Japanese style room - everything about the room was thoughtfully prepared (tea, drip coffee, robes and slippers for use when going to onsen, ice machine and small souvenir shop), clean and beds were comfortable. The location was very good, nice buffet dinner, live music performance at night and very kind staff. The rooftop onsen was excellent - it had a beautiful view of Matsuyama city, different soaking areas (outdoor and indoor with spa bubbles) and felt pretty private.

ChinaFacilities are somehow aged, though kept quite well. The air-conditoner in the room is a little bit noisy.
A traditional and standard grand hotel with superb service and extremely friendly staffs. The location is great, just 2-5 mins walking distance to train/bus station, shopping streets amd major spots. The onsen in the hotel, opening very early and till late night, free to use to hotel guests, is big, clean and with great view. I really enjoyed the moment I was alone in the onsen early morning.

CanadaPerfect location close to onsen and shops and services, short walk from the tram and bus stops. They have elevators to the top that's a bit hidden, look for the little plaza with the cafe and foot bath place (behind the old dogo onsen). You'll need to buzz up the first time but after that you can use your room card. Service was top notch. Rooms with the balconies are worth it for the view. The sky spa/onsen is beautiful and big. They also have massage chairs in the changing areas. Tvs come with Chromecast. Lobby boasts vending machines with drinks (including alcohol) and the gift shop is cute. They had musical performances like piano in the evenings. Top notch.

Location to Dogo onsen and tram stop from main train station. Very nice bath on top floor … actually way nicer than the historic dogo onsen which was crowded , rushed and ok. I understand both places use the same spring water

Hong KongA bit difficult to go by car to the main entrance of the hotel and it’s carpark because goggle map led our car to a small road near Dogo Onsen. Hotel should give a clearer instruction to the main entrance.
The room is spacious. Whirlpool in the onsen is comfortable. The massage chair in the onsen changing room is an additional bonus. Easy walking access to shopping street and Dogo onsen through the elevator to B1 and then B2. The walkway is beautiful at night because of the ‘Black Night Art’.

SwitzerlandThe access is a bit cumbersome: you have to take 2 different elevators to get to the front desk, and a third one to get to your room.
We got a traditional japanese room. It was very big. The baths were nice and relaxing with a very nice view from the top floor. There is also a private bath you can book, nice for couples and family The restaurant is amazing, everything on the buffet is delicious. The whole interior is wonderfully decorated.
