How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

the hotel located at main street which doesn't allow tour bus park and drop passenger. for traveller who take cab or public transport no problem, but not recommend for grouo traveller with minivan or small bus.

Great Location close to shops, subway station, and bus stops making it convenient to travel around Kyoto to see the sights. Good size room with nice bathroom. Lovely helpful hotel staff.

The breakfast was a little limited but was adequate.
We chose this hotel for its location. It is near thr Nishimura market with Gion district just 10 min walk. It is near to underground stations an has its own access to the underground walk way system. Great base for sightseeing and good value for money. The staff were very helpful.

Our room was one floor above the busy street and it was extremely noisy, even at night. There is zero soundproofing. If you are a light sleeper like me you will be woken lots.

Nothing really, everything was perfect - the only thing I could point out is if you want anything different like meal experience, onsens, or anything like that, look elsewhere. This hotel is the perfect "standard" value for money offering.
The location is very good, right on one of the main shopping streets in Kyoto. 5-10 mins walking distance from Nishiki Market, Pontocho and other traditional streets like Nakanocho and Otabimiyamotocho. Also within walking distance (20-30 mins) from the old touristic city: hokan-ji temple, ninenzaka and sannenzaka paths, as well as kyomizudera. You save a lot of cab money since there is a lot of places you can visit walking. The hotel is very nice, clean and the staff is very attentive. they serve complementary sake (1 glass) everyday which was nice. The room itself is more spacious than i was expecting, even had a small table and couch. It was also very quiet despite being located in a busy avenue. Value for price is well worth it for all it offers - if you are looking for a spacious, comfortable accomodation close to shopping spots and no0t willing to splash cash for over the top features, this is the perfect hotel for you

I loved everything about this place. The hotel itself, the amenities, the location, the staff, they were phenomenal! The Food was so good, and again, the staff were so attentive. I'm definitely coming back to this hotel.

The window was against a building. The tv was in the oddest position ever and unusable. It we were too tired from touring to care 😂

Hotel was not flexible at all to do earlier than ordinary check in yet they asked us to leave our luggage in the reception till check in time.
Hotel is well located, room is very nice and considered big compared to Japanese standards, staff were friendly, check in and check out went so smooth.

On a few nights, there seemed to be street hoons revving their loud vehicles on the main road where the hotel is, which woke us up in the middle of the night. Maybe this is not a regular occurrence but it happened while we were there.
Best thing about this hotel is the central location to everywhere on Shijo, right between Karasuma and Kawaramachi Stations, which gets you everywhere basically. There are several Family Marts close by and 7-11 right opposite the hotel. Lots of food and shopping options too on this street.

Lovely hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was great, good size and clean with everything needed. Great location right on the main street. Highly recommend and would not hesitate to stay here again.
