How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The only English speaking tv channel, CNN was over voiced in Japanese so badly couldn't understanf the English speaking personnel. Probably not controiled by the hotel. After a 9 day stay a bit disappointed the hotel would not give me a free extended check out time on my final day.
Location within the rail stattion was excellent. Good breakfast House cleaning very good

Might not be easy to find if there is any language barrier.
Centrally located in Kyoto Station but on the quieter end. Even though it’s situated between JR and Shinkansen tracks. There was no noise or movement from the stations at all. Amazing. Generous in providing the teas and coffee refreshments. Breakfast was good but missing fruits.

The front desk staff were not very accommodating/hospitable; room was nice but not 100% clean. We arrived 2:40pm, but they insisted for us to come back at 3pm for check in and to just store our luggages at the hotel. We came back at 3pm to a long line of people wanting to check in, and they've already misplaced my luggage in the storage area...in a matter of minutes!! Our rooms was also charged additional daily tax, even though it indicated on my booking that this was already included.(?)
It was right inside Kyoto station, easy to find from Shinkansen train. However, hard to find if coming from Kyoto Tower side of station.

Loved all the restaurants and the supermarket just outside the door. Very convenient. Also, being so close to the station / buses was great .

If anything the breakfast was lacking with Western Style foods.
Great location as it is right in the train station and very close to shopping centre's across the road. Staff were great. We lost a phone in another prefecture and it was found by the police. The staff helped us liaise with the police to get the phone returned back to the hotel.

Check-in took a long time. The refreshments they offer "free" as soon as you arrive don't have anything else than coffee or soda, its kinda sad. Room were the smallest one we stayed in Japan.
The location is great, inside the station so moving around by train is very quick and easy.

The location at Kyoto railway station was ideal for commuting . The station also had lots of dinner and sweet treats on sale. Lots of choice. The hop on hop off bus was also near by.

Should allow guests to use the lounge every day of their stay to rest their feet and chit-chat.
The location of hotel is at Kyoto Station itself. Very convenient, especially need to take early train. Allowing guests to use the dining lounge is v thoughtful.

Not many selections of breakfast for Westerners but rather for Japanese. My daughter had a hard time to find something to eat since she does not eat any sea food.
Location was great at the Kyoto Station; it was easy to find and use the transportation. Enough stores and restaurant around. Stuff members were very helpful and friendly. They let us use the lockers until check in time.

They do provide a hot water kettle in the room but only Matcha tea sachets. No coffee!!
Very conveniently located inside Kyoto station. Easy access to all railway lines and bus services. Tour pickups are also closeby. Plenty of shopping and dining options within the station and malls nearby. Rooms are comfortable. Breakfast buffet ( included in the room rate ) is quite good with Japanese and Continental options.

If you are after a convenient location, then it's hard to beat having direct access to Kyoto Station. Despite being next to the train tracks, the rooms are very quiet, spacious and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Lounge available only once per stay and quite limited times is a bit disappointing.

There was no coffee in the room.
Location is perfectly very convenient to get around Kyoto. The staff was very nice all the time, room was clean and comfy the size was also ok for Jain standard. I would recommend and stay again.
