How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The pillows were a bit too hard in my opinion.
The location and facilities are very good. They also offer a small japanese-type breakfast every morning which was good. The staff is very kind and helpful.

Nothing comes to mind. It was all lovely
The rooms are a good size. A table and desk is always useful. Enough space to not have your bags in your way. I loved taking the bath salts from reception and having my own relaxing bath after a busy day of walking. Right next to the metro and street car. You’ll use the bus a lot in Kyoto so cross the road and head right to the stop!

Not much,,, the room seems clean,,, but I think if you have many big luggage’s, then that’s problem. 2 luggage is fine for normal room there.
I love the bed, it’s twin beds but it’s not separated. I love also the mini table and sofa that makes our dinner time comfortable (food from convenient store).

Their facilities were delicate. You need literally nothing. They even have any type of chargers in every rooms. On top of that, they connected 2 rooms for us, so that we could have one big room with 4 beds.

It was difficult to find the hotel, the location does not show the entrance exactly. The bathroom is very small and uncomfortable.
The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff is friendly and was always willing to help us.

The location was a decent walk to the subway station, and having to figure out the limited express vs local trains was very confusing.
Very friendly and helpful staff, the room was super comfortable and the perfect size.

Internet connection in our room on the 3rd floor was limited. We had internet only near the door. It wasn’t working in the other parts of the room. Laundry includes only one washing machine and dryer and it’s quite low efficient. I had to use dry programme 3 times in a row to get my clothes dry.
Staff, cleanliness, location, free coffee and small breakfast for everyone (even if it’s not included in booking.com offer), free accessories such as lotions, bathrobe, everyday room cleaning and service, good accessible for disabled people.

What a lovely hotel! Super friendly staff, nice, simple breakfast included to the price. All the facilities needed, super cozy room and clean bathroom. The hotel is quite close to all the main places you want to visit in Kyoto.

The only negative aspect for me was the mattress because I could feel the springs while sleeping. It was the worst bed where I have slept during my stay in Japan. I didn't feel that I had a good night sleep because in the morning I was quite stiff with my back. I found it very difficult to find a confortable position during the night because the springs very digging in my body. For me the mattress is very important for an hotel, for this reason I don't think I'll book here again even if all the rest was very good but I care more about my sleep. If you don't have any problems with your back and don't need any particular good mattress I definitely suggest this hotel.
The staff is very polite and helpful. They serve a light breakfast with rice porridge. You can use the area where they serve the breakfast at any time to eat your own food because they provide a microwave and there is a water dispenser with hot and cold water with some tea and coffee bags. There is also a wash and dryer that cost 600 yen in total. The room and bathroom were clean and big enough.
