Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsA very friendly couple, who gave some good tips to visit during my stay. The Amami style breakfast was amazing.

New ZealandHard to locate in rental car at first on Google maps. My usual navigator was missing! Otherwise great location for my needs. Ideal for families, so friendly.
Splendid hosts who matched my tastes in a guest house! Fully engaged, Kami explained house protocols and what I was eating. Introduced me to relevant sights in Amami, both great ambassadors for hospitality. Would stay again.

JapanThe wifi was occasionally spotty. It would have been more convenient to have en suite bathrooms, but the the shared spaces were meticulously clean and really quite lovely. Though the location is only a block away from the ferry and within walking distance of several amazing restaurants, the natural attractions are not as accessible
The hosts were incredible - not only amazing meals, but they arranged all my outings for me: recommending excursions, calling ahead to book them, even driving me to the bus stop for my kayaking trip! Since I had to leave at 5am on my last day, the hostess was up at 4am to pack me lunch in place of breakfast

JapanThe walls are very thin (like most Japanese houses), and it's a little far from town.
I chose Kami House because it's so close to the ferry. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, and gave me a lot of help getting oriented. It's also a very pretty house.

JapanAmami Island is really beautiful and well worth a visit. Kami House is conveniently located, and you can explore both the town and the island easily. If you are coming without a car, the bus stop is a 2-min walk from the house. But what made my stay really great were my hosts. They were absolutely wonderful. They really did everything possible to make my stay comfortable. I stayed four nights and I felt like I was with my own family. You should definitely try the homemade food. It's really delicious. I am planning to visit Amami again in the future, and I will definitely stay at Kami House again.

FranceSound-proofing is non-existent. You'll hear everything from every part of the house. One restroom, and one bathroom for the entire guest-house (4? 5? rooms). But luckily, from your room you can hear people going in or out of the restroom; that helps for planning.. No sheet between you and the blanket. No matter how clean the place is, I don't trust a blanket. Location is only good if you have a car. Else, aim for a more central location (or just give up on this island altogether). They have this "key routine", where you need to hand over the keys when you get out. That means you'll be asked where you intend to go when you get out, and where you were and how was your day when you get back. Not my thing. Also, you need to plan in advance if you're going to come back late (late meaning 9PM, apparently). They mention a garden, but there is no such thing. The pictures, too, are misleading in that regard.
The couple who operate the place are nice persons. There is a water fountain. Clean.
