Our room was perfect for our family of four-loves the mix of Western and Traditional Japanese. The robes were lovely to lounge around the room in and we enjoyed the room service and buffet breakfast. Staff throughout the hotel were exceptional and language wasn’t too much of a barrier. The Onsen was simple and calming and the locker rooms were super clean and well stocked. Only downside is the location, while serene, is far from activities. We only stayed for one night but I’d staying longer, I think a hotel shuttle to town would be a nice addition. We stayed on the 5th floor and some the carpeting in the hallway was a bit worn and there was some mold in our bathroom (not a huge deal but a simple vent or dehumidifier would solve this issue). The architecture throughout the building is stellar and there are a lot of nice details. We loved our welcome drinks and the baby-friendly cribs and diaper pails. The breakfast buffet was so good-the first perfectly cooked bacon and scrambled eggs we had in Japan. All in all a nice stay and we look forward to returning!

It is a shame there isnt a gym or that the Onsen (which was lovely) - didn’t have a sauna / cold plunge pool / outside Onsen area … I feel for the quality of the hotel a bit more could be made of this area.

All the food was lovely. The rooms spacious and beds very comfy. Service was excellent. Happy hour in the very welcoming lounge with open fire. The complementary shuttle is also useful.

Shuttle service to town should be extended to 7:30pm. It's a dangerous walk for guests if they go for dinner, and taxis are not readily available.

Very nice hotel with cozy common space, especially during cold wet weather.

The onsen seems not clean. All the ceiling is with green mold and generally seems like just hot tap water.

It has cosy and big rooms, great breakfast

The open fire near the drawing room left an unpleasant smell of smoke on our clothes.

Clean room and comfortable bed. Onsen very nice. Plenty of clean towels available. Very extensive breakfast.

However, when you need call the shuttle to pick you up in town, you literally have to call. No texts or Whats App. It can get expensive. Also, the onsen needs revitalized. There are for obvious reasons mold and mildew.

This is a nice relaxing hotel with a good location.

It was unclear how the shuttle service worked causing some stress when being told one was not available while not being told of the alternatives. (We arrived under researched as expected hire car was not available due to shortage of snow tyres)

Good location, comfortable rooms. Lounge area was very pleasant for pre-dinner drink.

Shuttle but stops running at 6 so you need to walk to a from dinners and surrounding streets can be steep.

Room was beautiful and we had a small view of mt Fuji. The complimentary shuttle bus was perfect and really helped out a lot logistically. The spa was lovely and everything is top tier. The food at the restaurant was lovely although the alcohol was very expensive for what it was.

The service around the fireplace and living room could be improved, the staff is nice, but very slow and disorganised in their service approach. The second thing that should be improved is catering for allergies! We had to get into an argument with multiple waiters and their manager as the cook could only provide a club sandwich, out of a sizable menu, for a person with a garlic allergy. This was very poor and is not acceptable for a hotel of this class. The F&B manager saved the day and took charge, but this was after a long debate and being told that the club sandwich was the only option by multiple staff members.

Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa was a last-minute change to our itinerary as the ryokan we had booked refused to cater for a wheelchair user. The Hyatt is well situated in Hakone, the hotel is set in a beautiful nature space and comprises two buildings, which are interconnected by a walkway. The room is spacious and provides lots of space even with an extra bed placed in the room. There is a nice sofa, a large flatscreen and an indoor balcony with tea and coffee facilities. In the room, there are Yukatas and traditional Japanese outfits for the guests to wear in the room and around the Hotel. The hotel provides aluminium bottles of water that can be refilled in a water dispenser in the hallway. Parking facilities are available and come complimentary. The living room has a lovely chill and nature-inspired feeling with a big fireplace for you to relax. The hotel offers 3 different places for food, catering to Western and Japanese options. There is a hotel shuttle bus available for various destinations in Hakone, the Spa in the hotel provides Onsen for the hotel guests as well as a comprehensive menu of spa treatments. You feel welcomed and taken care of by the Hyatt team during your stay.

Room was really hot and adjusting the thermostat didn’t seem to have an impact. Shuttle service and cable car hours are limited and end early and taxis are not always available, so if you leave the resort in the evening for dinner it can be really difficult to get back (walk up is long, steep, and dark). Other reviews mentioned amazing views and our view was just OK (big rooftop of neighboring building). At this price point my expectations are pretty high.

Quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious and convenient. Room was huge and enclosed balcony was nice. Staff was friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with. Easy access to cable car which conveniently connects you to Gora and the Hakone Ropeway during the day.

Decor was very zen with a nice onsen. They had a bus to transport you from Gora and also Souzan station. Exceptional customer service with staff who were polite all the time. My son left his pillow in the hotel room and the staff were kind enough to send it to my next hotel. So touched by the exceptional service ...

They have a bit of a problem with their restaurant. Breakfast was cold from the buffet, they ran out of many foods at dinner time and second night was appalling as food arrived at all different times so my wife and I ended up eating separately! General Manager came to see us personally to apologise and comped the meal but would rather have had it all perfect as the food was actually very good . Despite all of this the hotel was so good still have a 5* review overall !

Location, luxurious hotel, wonderful lounge with huge open fireplace, food excellent, beautiful onsen and facilities!
