Can be tricky to get a shower in as a shared facility. But I was not bothered in order to get an authentic Japanese experience.

It’s modesty and being run by a lovely older lady. Food is fantastic and it’s an honour to be looked after by this lady.

We were traveling to Iya Valley during our Japan trip and we had an amazing Stay in this cozy Ryokan. The place is easy to reach from Oboke via bus has clean rooms and the homemade food was amazing. The staff is also super helpful although with limited English (modern technology does the trick though) Stayed for two nights and would definitely come back if we ever are in the area again.

Huge servings of food . Host was kind enough to vary the dishes for dinner as we were staying more then a night. Host is friendly and accommodating. Free parking just right outside the Ryokan which makes it very convenient.

really few minor things: no washing machine, the stairs to the room are steep, i thought there was an onsen nearby.

very small ryokan, only few rooms, which gave a personal feeling. the location was great, minutes' walk from the wine bridge. the owners were super nice and prepared the kids food they like. The traditional food was very tasty, and we really liked it. The room was big and had we needed. shower and toilet super clean. excellent value for money

Competing for access to the shared bath is a little tricky. Some of the family struggled with the rice-filled pillows a bit. Other than the lack of their own onsen, there's not much to quibble with. Really a pleasant place.

The family owners were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and filling each day. Our rooms were just big enough to accommodate our crew. So close to the vine bridge, it was an excellent starting point for our adventures.

The beds and pillows are rock hard. This wasn’t the most comfortable. Also there was no curtain so we had an automatic alarm when the sun was up.

Very nice ryokan in a beautiful place. The vine bridge is very close and also nice to see at night. The hostess is very nice and helpful. With some basic English it is doable to communicate. There was a nice hot bath and well equipped rooms.

The host was very warm and welcoming on arrival and very accommodating - They were able to whip up a delicious vegan meal for us with hardly any notice, which was incredible! The room was nice and warm and the location was very ideal - only 5 min walk to the vine bridge. Loved our stay and will definitely be back :)

The taps didn't put out clean water after a while. It was rusty pipe water. I suggest stocking up on bottled water before coming. Also everything nearby closes super early, don't expect anything to be open after 5pm.

Location was perfect, very near to the Vine bridge at Iya Valley. Meals were great and tasty. They had a home cooked vibe. This ryokan basically feels like visiting grandma.

Not a comment about the ryokan, but it is located at the top of a windy road with a decently steep incline - it's not long and manageable to walk up in comfortable shoes, however travellers with mobility impairments or heavy luggage should be aware and might opt to take a taxi.

My stay was great - the room was well appointed and spacious, and the included breakfast in the morning was delicious. The host was welcoming and friendly, and assisted me with the bus timetable and recommendations for my time in Iya. I would stay here again.

The only thing I wish they could change was dinner. They only served cold food… although it was delicious, it was winter… I wish I could eat something hot…

Dinner was outstanding. - worth staying here just for the food. The host was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was traditional Japanese - lovely, but sleeping on a futon still takes some getting used to.

There was a cockroach in my room, but maybe it's expected in such a rural area I was lucky to have a parking spot but there is way more rooms than spots. Food is eaten in a canteen with all other guests and western furniture, it's not a "typical" ryokan where you are alone in a dedicated tatami room.

food is excellent owner very nice true onsen inside very spacious rooms free tea and snacks in the room
