A little bit more ventilation would be great. I stayed on the 2nd floor where there is only 1 female WC. Luckily I travelled in winter so it was not crowded, but during peak season you might have to wait a little for your turn. You need to bring your own slippers (if necessary) because they don’t have any for guests. Personally I don’t mind though.

It’s very close to the station for the Enoden line and the access to Enoshima. The exterior looks cute. It feels safe for female solo travellers and quiet.

If I were an entirely able-bodied person, it would have been perfect. Unfortunately I'm a cane user who had no choice but to go up stairs to get into the lobby, with no disabled route available, then a very steep and narrow flight of stairs to get to the dormitory itself. I ran into disability-related hurdles in Tokyo a lot, so this wasn't exactly shocking, especially in an older building. But it's worth noting for anyone with mobility issues looking for a stopover. Further, I'm a person with food allergies, and I was quite surprised to find no non-dairy options at the attached smoothie shoppe (despite soy milk being plentiful in JP), nor nearby restaurants. I ended up getting konbini food, since they had a full range of non-dairy options.

Intending to spend all day and evening on Enoshima Island, we booked at the inn to avoid having to make a mad rush for a string of last trains to Tokyo (a good decision, would recommend). This was my first time staying in a dormitory and I really enjoyed the style of the bunkbeds. They were more like little mobile homes, with shelf-space by my head, a little rail I could put my towel on, and of course a curtain. The blankets were more than warm enough, despite it being wintertime. There were plenty personal utilities that we didn't make use of since we were only staying overnight. The internet was quick and reliable. It was also very close to the train station, and a reasonably short walk to the island.

The mattresses are not good and I did not sleep well. This is quite a major fault with this guesthouse which otherwise I loved. I think they need to invest in softer mattresses and pillows. The first night I felt there was a downhill slope in my bed which may only be due to an old mattress. The next night there was a noise coming from the room below and the staff tried to solve it but couldn’t do I turned around in my bed to get away from the noise and that’s when the bed became super uncomfortable. I feel bad criticising them for this but it’s important and they really should change the mattresses and pillows to soft ones to match everything else about the place.

I was impressed with the way this cosy place was managed. There was a quiet machine like efficiency that was almost aesthetic. The layout and organisation of the place was excellent. I loved that it was a spacious bunk room and not a cramped capsule room. I loved it that the toilet and shower were on the same floor. You have to use the shower handle manually to wash yourself as it wouldn't stay in the holder properly.

We loved the more personal service as a smaller accommodation option. Much more friendly and homely compared to a hotel. The beds were the most comfortable beds we have had in Japan and the snack food and icecream was great!

I just wish they provided room slippers since they ask shoes to be taken off in the rooms.

The guest shoes were taken off and place in the small resting area, made the tiny little space very uncomfortable. The 1f lounge is stinky because the floor is very oily. The shoes should have separated from the guest floor area, and need a door.

The dryer and washing machines were running at night time. It’d be great if they are not too close to the rooms.
