Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI wish there were more restaurants close by…even a ramen place would be nice.
The staff was so friendly & helpful. The view of Shirohama beach from our room was incredible. The onsen was amazing…especially loved the outside bath & liked all the products to sample in the bath area. The gift shop was very nice…with prices similar to near the train station. The hotel provides a shuttle to the main train station several times a day which makes it very convenient.

JapanThe property is located right in front of Shirahama beach, check in was very smooth and they allowed us to put our bags into the storage room before check-in time to enjoy the beach. The staff is incredibly friendly and can provide information in English if needed. There is a small restaurant inside the building which was very tasty.

JapanPoor price-value for a luxury hotel. The rooms need to be updated with new or newer furniture. The furniture is all scratched up. The hallways are all scratched up on the walls. The window sills need serious refinishing. Would like to be able to make a restaurant reservation four hours ahead of time instead of the day before.
The view was spectacular.

JapanThe time of year we were able to travel was during off-season for the area. This slower season meant some of the amenities were closed, obviously not the hotel's fault but for future travellers plan accordingly.
As ignorant Americans who speak no Japanese the staff were incredibly helpful and patient. We relied on google translate for most of the difficult (translations) conversations during check-in. A wonderful employee spoke English assisted us with the majority of introductions. After a magnificent welcoming and introduction to the facilities we were given the utmost privacy. The staff allowed us last minute reservations for the esthetic room and the private onsen, both of which I highly recommend for couples. The standards male and female onsens we're incredible! The outdoor portion extends from under a cover allowing you to enjoy the weather and ocean sounds while relaxing. It was a great trip within the hotel compound!

JapanThe step to enter bathroom. You can hit the step and fell over when walking in the dark to the toilet in the night. I think it’s unsafe.

Japanfood is so bad its unbelievable! no food options for lunch except poor quality/taste pizza and curry Diner was a joke, 7000yen per person, the space where buffet diner is served is a closed and gloomy space with no windows, and most importantly very bad food , very few options, no salad or fruit or anything remotely healthy, no even tea bag option there is just matcha and black tea! I had stomach ache after eating lunch and diner there on same day ! absolutely will never go there again The rooms were ok, but the trolleys used by cleaning staff to distribute towels and so on were dirty and rusty, at the very least that should be clean for god sake
pool and beach only, the hotel should be a 2 stars

United StatesStaff was amazing
Would not hesitate to stay here again. Staff was limited on English but went above and beyond to communicate with us. Staff even came out and “chatted” with the kids and I while my husband checked it. Pool and Onsen was amazing. Wish we would have tried the massage parlor or the restaurant at the hotel but simply didn’t have time. I dont know if it’s customary in all Japanese hotels but I LOVED that they set up and took down your Japanese style beds every day.

Japanthe other reviews said that communication would be difficult. however, when we arrived there, we were greeted by a staff that speaks japanese, english and filipino! the convenience store near the hotel was a great because we were travelling on a limited budget. it was really close to the beach as well. we didn't need to pay for expensive parking rates because parking at the hotel is free. (parking costs 1,500 to 2,000 yen on peak months)
