Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeNIL - everything was great!
Jeugiya was such a dream to stay in; from the impeccable cleanliness of our bedrooms and bathrooms, comfortable tatami beds, gorgeous garden, wonderful breakfast single-handedly prepared by our lady host (she even made us mochis)! Even the shower gel/shampoo/conditioner provided was of high quality. The location was great too; only a short walk away from the famous and picturesque Gion town, and Yasaka Pagoda. But what impressed us the most was the amazing hospitality of our hosts. From the moment we arrived, they have been the sweetest and most welcoming, making sure that we were comfortable and well taken care of. Their thoughtfulness and attention to detail was top-notch, and unparalleled by any other place I’ve stayed in. So if you’re looking for a place to pamper yourself and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this beautiful ryokan is for you.

I’m not a type of person leaving the comments on booking, but I have to get back on this review. Jeugiya is the BEST stay that I have experienced these years. The host was super warm, nice and professional. The house is exactly as what it looks in picture, very authentic Japanese style in good maintenance. My boyfriend caught a fever during travel, the host sent us meds immediately, and even led us to drug store in person and tried to translate everything to us. This was beyond their responsibility but they insisted to offer. We felt so touched. And they were also very kind to introduce Kyoto’s history and gave us tons of tips on travelling. I would say I definitely will recommend Jeugiya to my friends!

The host family are one of the kindest persons we met on our trips around the globe (more than words could ever describe). The house ist amazing, there is nothing better than to wake up and look in the awesome garden behind the house. The breakfast is made with so much love and in the evening they even bring us a bottle of sake and have a little chat. All in all, it doesn't get better than this. Thank you for all, dear family Muta!

AustraliaNo complaints.
The family were incredibly gracious and kind. They welcomed us in at check out with a wonderful homemade cake and some tea. Then we were given a tour of the beautiful space we had for the day, and after we returned from sightseeing and dinner, our beds were set out for us. The garden and living space were both so beautiful, we felt instantly so relaxed here. And after checking out, we were even given a ride to our next accommodation! Thank you so much for an incredible stay.

United StatesThe breakfast was fantastic. The taste, presentation, and ingredients were superb. It's a family-run business. The owner family was kind and lovely and spoke English well. They went above and beyond so that we would enjoy the stay. The house itself has an intriguing history, decorated with antiques. If you want to experience an authentic ancient capital with most considerate staff, this is your choice.

AustraliaNothing. Everything was perfect
We loved everything about Jeugiya. The warm hospitality from the family was top-notched. Firstly, we were welcomed with matcha tea and the best homemade mochi made by Bunichi’s mother. Then, his father (a very distinguished gentleman who spoke perfect English) walked with us to show us the best ramen place for lunch. The room was very clean and we felt really well looked-after. Breakfast was one of our highlights in Kyoto. Bunichi’s mother is a fantastic cook. Dropping off luggages prior checkin and leaving them there after checkout were not a problem either. I highly recommend this place and I will surely stay here again if I ever have the chance to go to Gion, Kyoto, again.

We had an amazing stay at Jeugiya Inn. It had the traditional beauty of a ryokan with clean and modern facilities. We especially enjoyed the bath and getting to enjoy a hot soak after a big day exploring. The hospitality provided by the family was also unmatched - they truly went above and beyond to make our stay an experience to remember. I’m still thinking about the delicious homemade Japanese meal. We’ll be coming back to stay on our next visit to Kyoto!

United StatesAbsolutely no negatives about this stay. You truly feel that you are guests of a wonderful family. Highest recommendations!
Jeugiya was the highlight of our trip to Kyoto. From the moment we arrived, Sei-san, Masumi-san, and Boon-san welcomed us into their beautifully renovated 160-year-old home with open arms. Every detail at Jeugiya is carefully planned and executed, from the beautifully crafted spaces to the exceptional hospitality. Sei-san took us on a walking tour of the area, Boon-san arranged transit and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, and Masumi-san prepared the best traditional Japanese breakfasts we had during our entire trip. We felt like part of the family and learned so much about the rich history of their home and Kyoto. If you're looking for an enriching and unforgettable experience in Kyoto, we highly recommend Jeugiya. The family is so kind and attentive. They were very grateful when we provided them with a rough itinerary because we did not want them to always wait for us and wonder when we would return. We can't wait to return!

IndiaMy daughter and I had the absolute pleasure of staying for almost a week this August with the Muta family, at their exquisite traditional Kyoto bungalow home, Jeugiya Inn. From the moment we made our reservation to minutes before we arrived, the warm and detailed correspondences we shared with Bunichi Muta-San, made us feel that we had made the right choice of accommodation in Kyoto. Every request of ours was fulfilled including that of extra bathroom amenities (L'Occitane!) and towels, feather free bedding, daily housekeeping etc.. Mrs. Muta and her daughter in law ensured we had the most delicious home made Japanese and Continental Breakfasts during our stay, so much so that we felt that no restaurant in Kyoto could match up to their culinary skills! The taste of the home brewed Matcha tea and home made mochi that welcomed us on arrival still lingers on our taste buds. Mr. Muta Senior would always personally drive us to stations from where we could catch trains to our sightseeing destinations. Whenever it would rain the family would readily give us their personal umbrellas to use. They were always ready with sightseeing and restaurant recommendations and even offer to make reservations for us. The family members would always wait everyday for my daughter and I to return from our day out to hear about what we did and to wish us good night. Jeugiya Inn contains beautiful gardens around and in the center of it. The spectacular wooden bathtub also has a view of the manicured garden! Laundry services are offered at a reasonable fee. Jeugiya Inn is very well located, close to bustling Gion, multiple restaurants, convenience stores, the river, there are buses from the main Kyoto JR station that bring you so close to Jeugiya Inn, that bus stops are just a few minutes walk away. There are many reasons I and my daughter would return to Kyoto, Jeugiya Inn and the Muta family definitely being one of them!
