How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

the location was great, and the bed was comfortable. however it was advertised that the room came with air conditioning but it was hot as literal hell inside, the front desk staff said they are unable to change the temperature because they have no control over it and the building managers were the only people capable of making adjustments. so I ended up having to use a fan that they brought to the room so a bit of false advertisement. also the cleaning staff did not change sheets on request over several attempts they only made the bed with the same dirty sheets which is without sense.
location was great, close to metro, good bus connections to Shinjuku and a lot of restaurants and entertainment in the area. laundry mat was around 400 m away which was great.

The location is a bit meh. There‘s a seven-eleven right next door but apart from that there‘s nothing really right in the vicinity as most tourist attractions are north of Kyoto Station and the Hotel is located in the south.
The room is quite big for Japanese standards. Everything was clean and the hotel personnel very friendly and efficient. I really enjoyed using the public bath, especially because it was open until 1am. There are laundry machines available at the hotel as well as vending machines, though I never used them.

The location, its a steep climb once you get down from the bus. Highly suggest to take a shuttle service if available from the train station to the hotel. While the entrance area was very nice, the rooms were not up to the expectations, the beranda area was not clean, the bed sheets seemed old (but clean).
The ambience overall was good, you can even try the kimonos they provide. The onsen was nice too. We ordered vreakfast, it was a traditional Japanese savory breakfast. The staffs were very helpful.

The bed was very hard and room very small, breakfast fish odour every morning, not a great deal to do directly around the hotel.
Location from nearest train station and subway station, use of laundry.

The location is a bit awkward, the train lines in Kyoto aren’t the best, so be prepared to walk or wait.
The hotel provides a good experience and a convenient one. Staff are very nice aswell.

Food was the Japanese idea of what foreigners eat and not good. The Japanese food was decent but the western food was a joke. French fries and ravioli for breakfast? Of course the foreigners will eat that and staff things they are eating it because it’s popular but it’s really the foreigners not wanting to eat the Japanese food.
New and clean. Small sento on property but a little small.

A bit pricey for the location but it was new and also peak season when I went.
No frills but has everything you need and a little extra. Very functional and clean. Lots of parking space for ¥1000 per day(prior reservation required). Breakfast ¥800. They also have a communal bath house area which is a bonus for those who enjoy that. For those driving it’s very convenient. 7-11 next door.
