Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustraliaThe owner was very welcoming and friendly, he personally greeted us. The accommodation was very nice, clean and comfortable. The room was much bigger than I expected and contained lots of nice toiletries and skin care. Free onsite self service laundry was available.

United StatesCatching the public bus is very easy as was using it to get Kamakura station, but the appartment is up a narrow road with steps. Larger cars can not make it up the road. Parking is only available at bottom of the hill. Not a problem for most people (or us), but this appartment would not be a good fit for anyone with mobility issues.
Appartment has great view and a lot of thought has gone into its set up - ready to use for one night or live in for days. We particularly enjoyed the soaking tub after long days of walking around Kamakua and the washing machine given our long stay.

This may sound like hyperbole but this place really was perfect in every way.Everything you could possibly need for a short stay is provided. It was astounding. Eg. We wondered whether to buy seasonings and oil, or laundry powder, but no, they were all there. The bed was so comfortable, the shower powerful, the terrace view lovely, the entire place spotlessly clean. It felt like home. Seiji san was a great host, sending clear communication.

JapanWe did not find the points that we ‘didn’t’ like, but if we need to say something, it would be great if they have a small heater. As Japanese houses are very cold in winter a heater can work well especially when we have a shower/bath (it is normal that there is no central hearing or other heating machine in the bathroom in Japan). Also, the location would not be so convenient and not so many restaurants and supermarket around here. But as I said above, it is also an experience to stay in Kamakura(especially we stayed just before the new year, so some restaurants have closed).
The interior is simply great. The facility and amenity are more than that of hotels. We really like the big sofa(can be a bed) to relax. Although the location is a bit far from the centre, that’s the reason guests have a perfect opportunity to appreciate the beauty of Kamakura. We did not meet the owner in person, but he was very polite and kindly shared some restaurants and shops around Kamakura. It would suitable for international tourists as well as the structure is similar to that and there are brief English translation to most of the facility.

JapanIt’s not something we didn’t like, but the “gentle slope” mentioned for access is rather more steep and long than it sounds. If someone has mobility issues or is old or infirm it might be a challenge, also with any large or heavy luggage. But the hosts are so helpful I’m sure there’s a solution.
Everything. From the moment we walked in, we wished we were able to stay much longer. Communication was also excellent. What a lovely little find this place is. Note: we had a car.
