Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNo major complaints. If I need to make a suggestion, then perhaps it would be better to have the filters of Washing Machine and Dryer cleaned more regularly. The Laundry appliances were building up lint around the door jamb/gasket, and my garments came out with some residue lint on them. For me, this was a minor issue, and it did not detract from the overall positive experience during my stay.
My experience staying at the Grand Blissen Hotel Jozankei was outstanding! The staff were very professional, attentive, polite and friendly! We felt very well looked after throughout our stay here. We only knew very super basic Japanese phrases, but the staff were very accommodating, and did their utmost best to communicate with us (with a mix of English, basic Japanese words/phrases, and using a translator app where necessary). We felt very welcomed, happy and at ease. For meals, I was the only Vegetarian within my travelling group, and I had notified the hotel via email prior to our visit. Our group was very pleased with the Dinner and Breakfast! My Vegetarian meal was very well thought out, and it was very delicious! My meal did not feel lacking when compared to the standard menu, and I was very happy with it. Both the Public and the Private in-room Onsen facilities were marvellous! Both had an extraordinary view into the valley, the river, and the snowy mountain across the hotel. We even saw a few deer roaming about! The Public Onsen was very clean, and well supplied with amenities. We felt very relaxed and comfortable in the waters! When we were in Tokyo earlier, our skin were drying up from the water and the harsh body & hand wash (my eczema was flaring up). Our stay at this hotel rejuvenated our skin, and left us feeling silky smooth! Also, my words cannot fully describe how wonderful it felt to see the snow drifting gently towards us, to meet the steam that rose from the pools we sat in, all whilst we enjoyed the view of nature! Overall, I only have high praises for the Grand Blissen Hotel Jozankei, and I definitely recommend them!

AustraliaPotentially offer a choice of set menu. Whilst we tried the set dinner it was not to our taste so most of the food was wasted. As there also were a number of foreigners staying for Christmas a Christmas set could have been offered.
The facilities were perfect. The room was large and well appointed. It was also very quiet and within a good walking distance to the main onsen area.

Hong Kongit would be better if the window inside private onsen can open wider. Will be more open and can enjoy view. Roast beef is fine but can consider changing to other menu seasonally.

SingaporeNot the property, but the town. It’s basically an onsen place, so there’s nothing else to do and not much dining choices around the property.
In-room onsen and nice view of the hill.

ThailandThe overall atmosphere in the Onsen is not very good. The lighting is relatively dim, and there are no amenities provided, such as hair caps. The breakfast and dinner are served as a set menu, but the taste is ordinary.
The room is very large and spacious. The in-room ambiance is excellent, and the view is great. The hotel is impressive, beautifully decorated, and luxurious.

SingaporeThe wagyu steak for dinner was nice and tender, but a little heavy for me due to the higher fat content.
Loved the stay. Room was very big with an excellent view of the forest, which would have been even better during autumn with foliage. Private onsen was great and fit 2 comfortably. They have a free shuttle bus to and fro Sapporo station so it was convenient to get there. The meals were also delicious and staff was able to accommodate to our dietary preferences after messaging them via Booking.com.

South KoreaOne thing I would like to comment on is that people did not understand English well. However, it was okay because we could use Papago or Google Translate.
This is a new hotel, very clean with a large space. We got massages (so nice and prices are reasonable!). The food (dinner and breakfast) was great. We hope to visit the hotel again.

United StatesThe room - including the incredible view and en suite onsen - was absolutely incredible and perfect for me and my teenage daughters. But the food… for me, that was the highlight. The breakfast and dinner included in our stay was out of this world and a beautiful way to experience Hokkaido — our first time there. The service was fantastic, start to finish — we always felt welcome and cared for. I read about this hotel in The NY Times, and it delivered, 100 percent. Highly recommend, 10/10!

Saudi Arabiayou need to contact the property to reserve a seat for the shuttle bus even though its free of charge , also its a one hour ride to the hotel from Sapporo and the shuttle bus just comes once in the day , i wish they can schedule it more than once or has a route to the airport directly .
i was sooo happy with my one night experience in this hotel , we took the free shuttle bus from Sapporo station to the hotel and it was relaxing and great , the staff were welcome and so nice with us especially one of the front desk staff ( a guy who was very kind and friendly , speaking english so well and was helping us a lot with everything especially with finding the best way to go back to Sapporo then to the airport for our flight ) , the room was amazing and big , the view was great too and it was well equipped with everything you need for your stay there , we tried the full body massage too and it was done perfectly and the highlight for me was the dinner and breakfast experience since we can not eat meat as muslims they prepare a full course Japanese seafood cuisine and it was the best way to try the Japanese food there , we got a complimentary Japanese dessert also , the hotel is near to many attractions in the area and it was walkable , there was a store in the hotel if u need something but also there is a grocery store nearby . Definitely worth the visit and if you are in Sapporo .

United StatesWe had a room for four people. The hot spring tub in the room seems a little bit small for us. We could only do foot bath (ashiyu) together. And for sure, the public hot spring is spacious and modern.
My friends and I loved the food served, that is both dinner and breakfast. The meals and the arrangements are superb.
