United StatesI didn’t realize how very far from the train station this was. I had to take a taxi, which I rarely do. There were very few choices of restaurants nearby. I found a little ramen shop about two blocks away, and when I returned to the hotel, the streets were almost deserted. I had no choice of room type, possibly because I booked only one day before. I was given a tatami mat room, which was beautiful, but uncomfortable for me. The kettle is unlike any I have ever seen, and I couldn’t figure out how to dispense the hot water, in spite of using my phone to translate the words on the buttons.
The hotel is elegant and the staff are overwhelmingly attentive. My room had a nice view over the city and up towards the mountains. The breakfast offered a huge variety of both Japanese and Western food, all beautifully prepared. It is on a tram line,

AustraliaWe couldn't get into the onsite Restaurant as you need to book a few days in advance and there was no other restaurant available in the hotel for dinner.
Beautiful hotel in traditional Japanese style. We stayed in the Japanese style rooms with tatami mats to sleep on. Plenty of room and clean. Breakfast was fantastic. Close to tram and bus stops. Highly recommend the train trip from Okayama to Kochi.

JapanThe two chairs in the room were not very comfortable. Also, it would be very nice if the hotel had an ice machine available for the guests instead of charging for ice.
This is an older, classy hotel from the Showa era in Japan. Although it is older, the hotel was kept in immaculate condition. The staff was very helpful; especially the parking valet, who deserves special mention. The room was large, well-appointed, and mostly comfortable. We enjoyed the top floor onsen several times and it was great.

Older but well kept property, Jyoseikan is great value and convenient location for Kochi visitors as it is walking distance from the Kochi Castle and Hirome Market and buses and trams stoop right around the hotel to other destinations in Kochi City.

JapanBreakfast was alright, they have a lot of variety but I cant really say it was very delicious. Overall our expectations were higher when we visit this hotel considering we paid 20万円 for a 4-night stay. We were somewhat unsatisfied with the value we got. Onsen quality was also standard, I was expecting better outside bath facilities. I believe this facility is overrated on this website.
The location of the hotel is really great, we had easy access to all locations we want it to visit. Additionally, staff was extremely polite and classy, parking was convenient to use.
