Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryLittle inconveniences: taps are outside of the bathroom. You are kind of strongly pushed to download an app (which was easy to use) to manage your booking.
The staff was friendly and everyone was fluent in English. Metro and/or touristic spots are available by 10-15min walk. Rooms' size are also fine. Price is reasonable.

RomaniaExcellent hotel in the middle of Kyoto. The hotel is new, just opened, very beautiful, great style, combining modern and classic japanese style Rooms are very big (!!!), very wide, a lot of space next to beds, size that is not common even for Europe, letalone for Japan (we had a room for three). Price is also very very good. Personnel super profy, the whole place has a super cool vibe. We also stayed in Kyoto at another hotel, at the same price, and they don't even begin to compare. Also very close (10 min walk or less) to Teramachi shopping street, and Nishiki market.

IndiaNothing really that i did not like.
The staff is most helpful. Very conversant in English. Lifts are large to move big bags. Rooms are delightful. Toilets & Showers generous. The location was AMAZING, as stations, the main road, the GOIN area, the Shopping street, the night market Nishiki, the Pontocho Alley etc were close by. Great eating joints, bars, cafes and shops in the neighbourhood. The YAMANATA black cat baggage transfer office is 5 mins walk.

Good location. Great room. Fabulous shower with separate toilet. Leg massager and facial steamer in the room. Bar on-site and a cafe.

United KingdomThe bartender (non-Japanese, hat and glasses) did not seem to be interested in our business whatsoever. Husband drinks lager and wines and I am alcohol free. There was one lager available and literally no non-alcoholic options were offered by your man - not even Diet Coke. We ordered a tonic and ice (which your bartender actually questioned) and a lager and we were so put off by his vibe we did the rest of our drinking for the weekend (including coffees) away from the hotel. We stayed in four hotels across three cities in Japan alone and this was easily the worst bar service we experienced in any hotel, bar, restaurant (even the convenience stores made us feel more welcome). Your bartender made us feel like we were an annoyance and you missed an opportunity to serve your customers. Not a great first impression.
We were welcomed warmly by reception staff. And our room was huge compared to others we stayed in in Osaka and Tokyo. The location was great, the laundry was convenient and the shower was a highlight!

GermanyFor a family with toddler, it’s difficult not to have the autonomy to prepare baby food (accessible microwave and a working fridge). The fridge in the room didn’t work. Also, the washing machine did a very poor job when drying the clothes even though we used the dry program additionally (as there was no clothesline available, only 5 hangers and no hooks). But, the Team supported us by heating the food in the staff microwave every time we requested and lent additional hangers so that we could hang the wet clothes everywhere possible in the room.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff; great quality of towels, bed-linens, shower and breakfast (delicious); convenient location and wide range of supplies.

ArgentinaIt doesn’t have self storage luggage space like other Kabin hotels.
Kabin Kyoto is one of the biggest Kabin hotels in the area. The facilities are beautifully designed with a patio in the middle, rooms are big and comfortable, it has 24 h front desk and typical amenities including laundry machines. It’s also got a bar and other leisure areas. Location is superb.

FranceUnderstanding the push for digitalization across businesses, self check-in is becoming the norm as it was the case for Kabin Kyoto. Would still prefer a more human touch rather than self-check in, but fair enough if done for efficiency
Excellent stay, with spacious rooms with comfortable beds! Also, the property has an inner patio with trees, which is extremely pleasant as it gives a nice fresh touch

CyprusThe staff is really friendly, the hotel is really nice and the room is very clean, comfortable and spacious. We have also used the washing facilities. The hotel is located in a quiet area so it feels a bit remote from other areas. It is a short walk from the Shinkyogoku shopping street and we used public transport to get to the main train station.

PolandThe only downside was that the window did not open at all, it was sealed, with milky white film over it, so the only possibility to move the air in the room was with AC. The tourist tax needed to be paid on site, it is not included in the booking.com total room price.
The hotel offers comfortable rooms which are way larger than Japanese standard. Because of this our stay was more relaxing as we finally didn’t bump into our luggage at every step. The room was modern, with a very large bed and a few cupboards. The shower in the bathroom was awesome too. There was a washing machine on every floor, so convenient! The hotel stuff was very helpful.
