Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeNothing to mention, everything was great. Only one feedback is that the bins outside the toilet may get full the next day morning so may need a bit of check.
What a property this is. Too great to be a hostel even though I took a private room with shared bathroom. Quiet area Has a Fuji san view from room Super Clean!!!!! Great showers Even though the house is made of wood, the other guests are quite considerate.

TaiwanBecause there is a restaurant downstairs, there is a strong smell of cooking oil. However, the rooms are equipped with air purifiers, so it's not a big issue. It's best to return to your room quickly after taking a shower.
The inn's location is fantastic. On a clear day, you can step outside and see Mount Fuji clearly and beautifully to your left. The restaurant on the first floor of the inn serves delicious food, and the curry rice is my favorite.

PhilippinesNone.
Quiet place with Mt. Fuji as the view from the room. Toilet and shower facilities are well kept and clean. The hostel's bar and restaurant serves good food. It is also very convenient especially since most of the restaurants in Kawaguchiko closes early.

United KingdomNothing.
Very comfortable, well-designed minimalist rooms. Everything was considered and excellently appointed. The tap water is drinkable as taken from Mount Fuji which is cool. The showers were surprisingly excellent We were also able to have dinner from the restaurant downstairs delivered to our room which was very cool, and absolutely delicious. The views of Mount Fuji were breathtaking too.

Great location with the a nice view on Mount Fuji. A couple of supermarkets close by, so easy to some groceries. Within walking distance from the station. Nice restaurant with some local, options. A terrace outside is nice when the sun shines. You can take your own drinks or take it from the bar. Private rooms are OK.

United KingdomThe kitchen was adequate size but eating area only 3-4 seats - where people were doing their postcards so we couldn’t sit to have our dinner. I would recommend that the hostel had more of a public space so people that weren’t eating could leave the space for people to eat.
Lovely design of property. Had a view of Mount Fuji from our room which we woke up to. Clean. Amenities provided. Nice outdoor area also. About 10 minutes walk from Lake Kawaguchiko station so not far at all - walk is not difficult but just to be aware.

KuwaitFriendly staff, clean and good facilities, self check in was possible, and they had no issues holding onto my luggage for a reasonable amount of time before checkin and after checked out, good location nearby the train station, vibe in the property is nice, and though I sadly didnt get to try their restaurant reviews seemed great about it.

CanadaMy bunk faced a wall. Although aesthetically pleasing the entrance with the pebbles and three large rocks was difficult to get through with a large suitcase.
Views of Mt Fuji. Food was exceptional. Staff friendly.

IndiaI stayed in Kagelow for a day and its the best hostel I stayed during my entire Japan vacation. Really recommend to anyone looking to stay in Kawaguchiko. Its a 10 minute walk from the kawguchiko station. It has a really different vibe from other hostels and the music was so good. You also get a really nice view of Fujisan from teh windows. Really looking forward for another stay here.

Only washing machine, no clothes dryer. Would be good if there's a shoe cupboard inside the room, in case someone has smelly shoes.
Love the design and interior of the venue, very clean. The bar & cafe is very stylish, guests can use the lounge and dinning area afterhours. Has indoor and outdoor sitting. Staff are very friendly. Has a small parking area. Full view of Mt Fuji at the door step.

United KingdomThe toilets might need to be cleaned more regularly, especially in the mornings. It is a bit loud when people start waking up.
The hostel itself is really cool. The decor and the layout is an awesome blend of Japanese and industrial styles. My room was clean, modern and comfy with great Mt Fuji views. There are good restaurants nearby the hotel.

GermanyThe room was a little bit empty, even tho there was so much space for a hanger rack or other furniture. The light was too dim, left us with dark corners where we couldn‘t see whats in the suitcases.
The blend between old traditional japanese and modern industrial style, definitely the cat. The view on Mt. Fuji is impeccable!

GermanyYou can hear everything going on in the building, which we knew before and is ok, but unfortunately not all guests are considerate of others even though it is written everywhere to be quiet after 9 because of the thin walls. The price was rather hotel-ish, but I guess the Fuji region is more expensive in general
Late check-in worked fine. We booked a private room and it was clean and very cool - we had a nice view on Mt. Fuji. Different amenities available (toothbrush, slippers, cotton swabs, shower gel, etc.) Solid 15 min walk from the main Kawaguchiko station, so you can reach everything in the region quite fast. The mattresses are thin futons laying on the floor - please consider whether this is comfortable for you or not.
