Close to hakone ropeway. Beautiful views of mountains and lots of walks in wetlands. Amazing eight course meal! Spectacular meal and exceptional service! Private onsens were a definite bonus!

Lovely hotel with nice helpful staff. The room was not exactly as pictured as the garden view was half blocked by a guard rail. Also, when booking the room it said it had views of Mt Fuji but I think that description must have been a generic one. We didn’t get that view, so you should check before booking.

The location is a bit far from the nearest train station, the only way to go there is through local bus. You need to check the bus timetable or you will be waiting for almost 30mins like us. However, once you get on the bus, the stop is right in front of the hotel which is convenient. But I think it will be better if they have shuttle service?

Spacious room, relaxing onsen, kind staffs, delicious breakfast buffet and the overall scenery/views from the hotel is beautiful!

Staff were very helpful. We loved the private onsen after a day out with lots of walking. We had dinner at the hotel one night and it was delicious. The hotel is located right on a bus stop. It is a short walk (uphill) to the ropeway.

everything was good, the only worrisome thing is that you need to reserve for dinner before 1 day, but the restaurants around offer a ride from and to their restaurant, ask the reception for that

The heating/AC in the main room was defect, and a radiant patio heater (mushroom heater) was used instead - because of that, there unfortunately was a strong fuel smell on the main floor and in the corridors.

The Onsen was great, I enjoyed it a lot. The breakfast buffet was also very nice. The room was clean and one of the biggest accomodations we had on our whole trip.

It would be great to update the TV in the rooms with any form of casting device, or switch them for Smart TV. No streaming services are available right now.

Great location. Rooms are spacious and clean. I strngly suggest to take one with view on the montain. Private onsen bath are available and well maintained. The super was great. Even though it's quite isolated in the montain, it's near a bus stop and access is easy by bus from the Odawara train station.

This is a big hotel and I am not sure why they cannot spare a room for laundry. They have an expensive Japanese restaurant for dinner. They also have connection with 3 restaurants to fetch hotel guests 2-way for dinner.

Mount Fuji area is known for 2 things: Expensive and Poor Public Transport. Anyone interested to visit Mt Fuji area should consider driving there. Hotel Kagetsuen is one of the lower cost in Hakone. Access to public transport is relatively easy.

the rooms and onsen were absolutely beautiful, it was comfortable and had amazing skin care and hair care provided in the onsen rooms! Also the staff who took care of us at dinner was such an angel, he helped us to eat our japanese style meal properly and was so kind. 1000/10 would come back again!

Common spaces as the corridors were not cleaned. Very old feeling in the corridors and the global looking of the structure

Beautiful room, clean, big bathroom. Very interesting the private onsen. Rich breakfast and super traditional dinner. Walking distance from Togendai pier, frequent buses also available. Staff very kind and generally prepared with English

Relatively long journey by bus to reach the hotel from Odawara and back. It takes around 90 min with many traffic jams, some 50 stops along the way so in case you re standing in the bus could be demanding. Limited space for large suitcases in the bus. We used bus labelled T which goes from Odawara Togendai and back. However we learned that some T buses have shorter line and we had to get off and take the train at Miashita. Recommend to take local transportation map upon arrival in Odawara. Complement with google maps or similar.

Buffet breakfast, large variety of food. We booked also dinner which was excellent, kaiseki type carefully selected by local chefs, a bit pricey but an experience in itself. Onsen very good both private and public. We tried both and it was excellent, highly recommended. Good English among staff which was very helpful and looking to make our stay comfortable. In the last day we checked out and left luggage at front desk so we can explore a bit more the region. From the entrance in the hotel you can see Mt Fuji when clear. Access by foot to Togendai and lake Ashi for the boat and ropeway.

The restaurant is by reservation only. I feel like we should have been made aware of this on check in as the hotel is far from restaurants and there are no other dinner options. We had microwave dinner from the shop as the restaurant was fully booked when we went to go for dinner

Dinner was great, the wait staff was wonderful, but if you're palate is not used to traditional Japanese fare, (We're from the U.S.) you might find yourself passing over some of the courses; it was a set multi-course menu. We're just not used to fish stew! There was some construction/renovations happening in the lobby area, but it wasn't disruptive to our stay.

Onsen was great, breakfast (buffet style) was great. Within walking distance of both bus stop, cable car station, and visitor information center if you are traveling using public transportation. Nice view of the countryside, including Fuji, from our window.

The shower in our room had no shelf and was too small to bend over in. There was no body soap, shampoo, or conditioner provided in the room bathroom. So, I had to use my own. However, there was no shelf to put them on and so it was uncomfortable and dangerous putting my shampoo and conditioner on the floor then having to pick it up repeatedly. I also did not like how the front staff assumed that because I was a foreigner, I could not use chopsticks and was given spoons instead.

The room was newly refurbished and the breakfast. Buffet was good value.

Disliked · Although our room was non-smoking, you could still smell cigarette smoke on our floor. Shower was a tiny cubicle, with door, limited room to move and no toiletry space, so had to put items on the floor

Location- central to so many attractions, we had a car and spent 2 days exploring, we could easily have stayed another night, as there was so much to see and do. Touristy, but we loved it! -You could easily walk to bus stop and visitors centre if you don't have a car Room- huge, and recently renovated on the top floor, with a Tatami area for sitting, dining and bedding supplied for 2 extra persons sleeping on Tatami). Bedding- 2 Single Beds which felt like King singles, and 2 ?Futon/Tatami beds Bathroom- modern, separate toilet. Vanity mirror with seat in main bedroom, as well as 2 chairs and small table can in handy for sitting reading, coffee and a drink in the evening. Storage cupboard- we could store our suitcases easily, and had a safe to lock our valuables. Lighting- many options from overhead on bedhead, mirror etc, and even dimmable in Tatami area The view out onto the front garden was beautiful, and made more beautiful from fresh snow overnight. Breakfast- standard buffet that we found elsewhere in Japan, large range of Western and Japanese hot and cold choices. For Japanese standards (we have experienced several times) this room was great in size, room to comfortably move around, for 2 tall Australians, we had several comfortable seating options. Its 'the little things' that make a stay special, such as the cookies, and tea set, not to mention the beautiful gowns to wear in room, I haven't even mentioned the 3 private onsens, which we never had to wait for, which we loved after a cold rainy day. Would stay here again!
