There was mould in the bathroom vents on the door. Dated decor that will need updated and window covers that don’t completely block out the weather. Western breakfast options not available and no where open for us with small children until 10. Reception needs to be better equipped with supplies to book in the cottage like bread, eggs etc. Better cooking facilities in the cottage with a microwave or stove would have been great as after skiing the kids wanted to relax and had to drag them Out for dinner far away and had to carry home asleep most nights

No buffet breakfast on weekdays, only set meals. We had to go to the West hotel for the buffet style breakfast

The hotel is in a perfect location, truly ski in ski out and just a few minutes’ walk to the outlet mall. The onsen is nice and not too crowded. The service was exceptional - we needed to go to the West hotel when the shuttle was not available and the hotel offered us a complimentary ride.

The room sizes are comfortable, but I think it's a bit odd they would not provide a cot for babies above 12 months. We have a 1.5 yo and she still sleeps in a cot, but they said for safety reasons they weren't able to. This was a bit odd...

We stayed for 2 nights with our 2 toddlers, the location was very convenient with easy access to hotel restaurants, the onsen and of course the snowpark (our room looked right into the snow play area too). The staff were helpful arranging our taxi hires and we had good food at the hotel restaurants. It's not a luxury hotel, but the facilities are clean, conveniently located next to Princes Outlets (this came in handy when we had a day of rain and needed to find something to do). The onsen is very nice, I took my daughter there and we had a fun experience. Worth visiting when you're staying at the hotel.

The housekeeping wasn’t great. At check-in they did ask me if I needed my sheets changed. As i was only staying for 2 nights so I said no, but I needed new towels everyday. They did change my towels, but it came as a surprise that they didn’t even make my bed.

It’s a ski resort. The equipment rental and cable car ticket office are just steps away from the lobby. There are various ski schools available as well. It’s friendly for families with young children as you don’t need to walk too far to the school or ski rental. There’s also an outlet nearby so people who don’t ski can go shopping so it caters to everyone’s needs.

The staff are really unfriendly and unhelpful. “Ask AI before you fall front desk” is mentioned, but the QR code for asking AI didn’t work for me.

It’s obviously 50th anniversary this not a new hotel. However it has maintained its facility well.

Buffet at Hotel East was only available over weekends.

Very convenient - easy access to and from station and shopping mall, free shuttle buses were great and lift was right in front of hotel for skiing / snowboarding. Staff were very kind and friendly.

The beds are too soft. The room can be very dry when the heating system is on. It would be good if they can provide body lotion.

I liked the location of the hotel, very convenient for skiing and shopping! There are shuttle buses that bring us to the JR station and shopping plaza even though both were walkable.

-Staffs are not as courteous and friendly as other hotels I stayed in nearby province, even Tokyo. -toiletries should include body lotion -No free ice or microwave, self-service laundry for guests. I had to pay for a bucket of ice and walked to reception to get it myself. -Breakfast quality not as impressive as it should be , considered by hotel grade and price

Minor point - We would have preferred more comfortable yukatas for the onsen, instead of the orange/brown polyester pyjama suit we had to wear!

The hotel feels cozy and rustic for the price, but worth it for every other aspect.

The locale was perfect for walking around and enjoying the areas near the station. It was near the outlet and could walk to and from the other side of the station even at night - it was a perfect mix of enjoying nature and the convenience of Karuizawa. The breakfast at the restaurant Karamatsu was amazing!
