Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe overall experience was good. Taking a "cable car" to the outdoor Onsen was an experience. Having said that the Onsen facility is basic compared to some others that I have visited before.

SingaporeOne thing that we found regrettable was the construction site right in front of the hotel. It is directly seen from the hotel room window and affects the view. But not a problem if you're not picky with that
We had a really unforgettable experience at Hotel Kazurabashi. We booked the room with a private indoor bath and were pleasantly surprised with how spacious and clean the room was. The service at the hotel was excellent as well. The service staff gave us a very detailed brief on meal timings and amenities around the hotel. During breakfast and dinner which were included in the booking, the food and service provided was amazing. The meals covered all the local Iya delights that we would otherwise have needed to travel around the area to discover. The onsen was amazing too, especially the outdoor one. Highly recommend this hotel!

United StatesThe dining area was very atmospheric. It was probably the best hotel dinner we've had in Japan. The service was excellent, and the hotel owner came out to sing a song during dinner, which was lovely. Also, the spa (onsen) was wonderful.

AustraliaIt is a hidden treasure, don’t be put off by older appearance of building. Gardens near onsen are amazing, it would be nice to have more plants at front of building. More information in English about the geology, natural environment of the area, and folktales would be a valuable addition.
The outdoor onsen, outdoor foot bath, and gardens around them were amazing. Hotel staff were very helpful and very friendly.

Hong KongNothing in particular. The food was so-so, not as refined as other onsen hotels I've stayed in. The hotel is right by the road. So could hear the cars passing.
The room looked freshly renovated. Large western style bathroom with toilet separated. Staff were friendly and helpful.

SingaporeMost Japanese hotels seem to use very flat pillows and this was no exception. Maybe an extra pillow can be provided for guests to stack them up if necessary. Perhaps they may wish to look into the main sink’s water supply (room 410) as the hot water was inconsistent and the water supply was also sputtering a little in the morning, though it didn’t really affect our washing up.
Japanese omotenashi is well embodied in this establishment; the owner of the hotel personally comes to greet guests during dinner with a traditional folk song and also attending to guests table by table and all staff were polite and helpful. Room was comfortable and all the baths were great, particular the outdoor bath available for all guests blasting a great view.

The open-air spa is situated atop a hill at the hotel. My sister and I took a small self-manual cable car to reach the spa. It was a fantastic experience that I had never encountered before, even though I have visited many ryokans. The owner of the ryokan was very welcoming and fluent in English. She sang a beautiful local folk song and placed a plaque with our family name in front of the dining room entrance, which made us feel special. My sister and her friends are already planning to come back to the spa in the next six months. I also plan to return when I have the time. There are trains from Tokushima that arrive at Oboke station, where you can take the ryokan's service bus. They even offer to pick you up from the station if you inform them of your arrival time. Alternatively, there is a bus from Tokushima station to Iya, or you can rent a car from JR Tokushima station. There are plenty of fun activities to do in the area all year round. However, I would highly recommend visiting from the end of October to mid-November, as it is the best time to experience the area's beauty. I would like to express my gratitude to Okami-san, the ryokan's owner, for making our stay so special.
