Only minor thing was that the outdoor bath water was not hot enough for my liking. But this is of course very subjective thing.

The surroundings are stunning - Shikoku at its best. The facilities were relaxing.

Staff was amazing! They even managed to provide me a vegetarian meal and it was incredibly good. Room was very clean, comfy and with a nice view. Onsen were great, especially the outside pool. Highly recommended.

We had a very nice recently renovated Japanese style room with a nice view. The onsen was very enjoyable and we could enjoy the beautiful surroundings from there. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, creative dishes with local ingredients like buckwheat. Everyone was very welcoming.

Great and friendly employees which where able to speak English well. One could see that they are investing a lot in modernizing, which is quite uncommon among the Ryokan we have been too. The dinner and breakfast where great.

Nothing except not enough signs and lights at parking lots (we arrived at night time), but not affect our stay at all.

Staff are polite and helpful, good hospitality. Room is spacious, clean and comfy. Separate bathroom and toilet. Meals are delicious.

The staff was so nice and respectful. It was pouring rain when we arrived, and the attendant held an umbrella for us until we got under cover! The meals were delicious, well-balanced, skillfully prepared, and filling. Everything else was just as amazing. The view of the valley, especially when it rained, was like being inside a painting (my new phone background). The steaming hot outdoor onsen was wonderful. The spacious room with a modern bathroom and comfortable futon was perfect. We received a message on booking.com that said they could not accommodate our pescatarian diet, but we went anyways, and when we asked at dinner about it, they were happy to replace the red meat and poultry with river fish. We are so grateful!!!

Location next to Biwano Taki & Kazurabashi Bridge. Super nice and helpful staff. Great open-air bath. We had a relax stay here and super nice dinner & breakfast. We will come back again.

The dinner is spectacular, and they are well known for their Iya Soba (Sobakiri) that is pretty different from normal soba as it is thicker, shorter, and uses more soba flour. The shioyaki/salt grilled fish was delicious, and the yuzu sorbet they served after were great highlights in this kaiseki meal full of seasonal vegetables and ingredients. The rooms seem pretty newly renovated, and everything is clean and modern while still maintaining an older Japanese ryokan touch. Not sure if all rooms were like this, but we were given a large tatami room with a separate smaller living area and there were also 2 sinks. Perfect for a group of four to stay very comfortably while organizing luggage and packing without stress or having to climb over others to get ready. The staff were all incredibly kind and happy to see us, giving thorough explanations to meals and helping with luggage and even offering to take pictures of us in the snow. The property is also within walking distance to the vine bridge, which is where we went in the morning after check-out.

Beautiful location and Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. Many of the staff speak English. We were on a bicycle tour and staff helped us store our bikes and find dinner and breakfast options that were vegetarian. Dinner and breakfast were amazing, and filled with fresh local ingredients. I honestly lost count of the number of courses we were served, and each one was presented beautifully! Hotsprings were very relaxing and a wonderful treat after a day trekking through the mountains.

The lighting in the rooms made it difficult to read in bed.

Traditional Japanese inn (ryokan), includes dinner and breakfast, has hot spring-fed baths (onsen). They were completely accommodating to our pescatarian diet. Multiple-course meals served beautifully. Very comfortable futons arranged by staff while you are out during the day. Location is for visiting Iya Valley, and vine bridge.
