Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanI had no concerns, it was a fantastic stay!
The location was excellent! It is right in town, within easy walking distance to the train station and all points of interest. The amenities exceeded expectations for a hostel, toothbrushes, 2 types of sunscreen, free towel, makeup wipes for the ladies, cotton swabs, even mouth wash..! Shared bathrooms were meticulously clean and the entire facility looks recently remodeled yet retains the original charms of its machiya roots. Also loved the yukata rental which comes with tabi socks, wooden geta, and a furoshiki to carry your towel to the onsens in.

ItalyEverything was perfect!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kinosaki Knot, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! First off, the place is incredibly spacious - this includes the rooms themselves, which provide ample space for relaxation and comfort. Its convenience to the train station is a significant plus, making arrivals and departures a breeze. However, what truly sets Kinosaki Knot apart is the meticulous attention to care and cleanliness. The amenities provided to guests are thoughtful and high-quality, including a marvelous peach-flavored mouthwash that was a delightful surprise. It's the little details like this that truly make a difference in hospitality, and Kinosaki Knot nails it perfectly. I also must commend the property for its excellent value for money. The comfort of the futons added to the quality of my sleep, ensuring that I was well-rested each day. Everything about my stay was perfect, from the onsen hopping in Kinosaki to the exquisite dining experiences, especially the steamed winter crab - it was divine. Staying at Kinosaki Knot was a beautiful experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for top-notch accommodation with a keen eye for detail and an exceptional guest experience. Thank you for making my visit to Kinosaki unforgettable!

United StatesI imagine that if they were completely booked, my dorm room might have gotten a little crowded - there were 6 beds in a configuration with 3 bunk beds. But, given the respectful culture in Japan, it still felt very workable. Since it was just me and one other person, we each had plenty of space. You can always inquire about how booked this place it and I'm sure the host would let you know.
Kinosaki Knot was a clean, organized, and well-kept hostel - I visited during mid-December and had only one bunkmate in the shared women's dorm. She was great - we hit it off and grabbed dinner and wandered around town together. The beds were really comfortable and clean, the common space had hot water, tea, and coffee, and the bathrooms were also clean and had small amenities. My host was great - very welcoming, and quick to respond in case I needed anything. This hostel is also very close to the train station (not that Kinosaki is large - you can walk anywhere you need to go) and I found it handy since I had to catch a 7:00 train the next morning.

The property is decorated the typical Japanese style with rice paper walls and futon beds. The host is very welcoming, friendly and even recommended us a very nice sushi restaurant (Orizuku). The stay is very clean and includes everything you need. Close to all onsen. Traditional yakuta’s are available too.

Great value for money in such a special location that can get expensive. It’s located on one end of Kinosaki town near train station, and walkable distance to all 7 onsens. There’s a live status showing which onsen is open and how full they are on the official website. As a solo female traveler, I stayed in a female-only room with 3 bunk beds (fit for 6), luckily there were just 3 of us so it’s really comfortable. Personally I slept better here than in a capsule hotel, the tatami mat smells nice and everyone has been respectful of privacy and silence. The host was very responsive and kind, he made the stay enjoyable. Would recommend.

United KingdomNothing, honestly it was impeccable.
We typically steer clear of hostels, but Kinosaki Knot was a delightful exception. Impeccably clean, incredibly comfortable, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure a warm welcome. They even let us rent and taught us how to wear Yukatas, guiding us through onsen etiquette. A truly fantastic stay – our only regret was not extending it.
