Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe very central location of this hotel to trains and transport was excellent. The complimentary drink and snacks in the bar was a lovely thing to enjoy at the end of the day. The room was a good size with comfortable beds and an excellent shower. An very good breakfast is available and reception was very pleasant.

LuxembourgNo shelfs or a wardrobe to put our cloths. Ok for staying max 4 nights.
Central location, right in front of Hamamatsu train station. Plenty of shopping and food area around. The hotel public bath is nice and relaxing after a busy day. It's worth making the experience. The wash&dry machines are super efficient, 300y for 30min wash and 100y for 30min drying. The hotel staff was very helpful, they do speak some English and thanks to Google translate they helped me book even online tickets for the football ⚽️ game in Tokyo. Arigato gozaimas! The happy hour offering cold and soft drinks, as well as beer, saké and many other alcohol drinks with some crackers is really good, daily offered between 17h00 and 20h00.

NorwayThe location of the hotel is epic. It's close to the train & subway station. There are main shopping streets and several shopping malls in walking-distance. You will never go hungry. The hotel is connected to a cafe, where you could enjoy your coffee and breakfast (if you did not order breakfast) before you embark on another day trip. We accidently checked in a day earlier. The reception was kind enough to assist us with our booking.

JapanMostly of booking.com problem but I requested check in at 2:00 p.m. and when I got there I was told I would be charged an extra 1,000 yen for that. Fine I was in a hurry I paid it. I got the notification by email the next day that check-in would not be possible. This was my second stay at the hotel in the same week. This time they were more accommodating, but my first check in they wanted a passport or zairyu card even though I told them I was a Japan resident. Which which also should have been evident by my phone number and credit card. I get by and just say no, but this kind of racism is crap. I expect better from a hotel in Hamamatsu, of all places.

Great location. 3 mins walk to JR Hamamatsu station. Plenty of food & shopping nearby. Hotel staff are very friendly & helpful. Buffet breakfast is delicious. They serve Unagi with rice. We also appreciate the daily happy hours. And other amenities. The room is spacious and well maintained.

JapanThe bed was just too uncomfy. The mattress was very hard, and the pillow was uneven and lumpy. I guess some people don't mind a hard mattress, but I really think they should invest in better pillows.
I'm sad I have to give it a low score, because there were good points. It was clean, the room was spacious, and the staff were great. But the bed is the most important aspect to me.

JapanThe worst part is the value. More expensive than most hotels in the area. You pay for the extra space in the rooms, but even then it is still really tight due to terrible layout. There is a premium for having two guests stay in a room like most hotels, but you do not get anything extra. You get 1 key card, the same 2 small pillows, etc. Most cheaper hotels offer you breakfast. None for us. Checkout time is 10 am, most other places is 11am. They charge 1000 JPY per extra hour you stay past checkout. We went down around 10:40 for checkout, when we got down the lobby, oh my goodness it was a zoo there. So many people with frowns on their faces probably waiting for available rooms.
The location of the hotel is extremely good. Right beside Hamamatsu Station, and visible as you exit the station (there is a huge sign on their building that is hard to miss. The entire hotel was extremely clean.
