How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I like this hotel. So, there's no complain from me.
The room was very clean and the location is in a good distance from/to train station. It's closer to Okayama castle.

Perfect!
We stayed in a huge room - 2 double beds, a sofa, a huge bathroom (given Japanese standards). We loved it here! The Okayama castle is about 15 minutes walking, and the train station about 5 minutes away. Ideal!

A clean, comfortable and generous-sized room with a balcony looking out over the city. Not the most modern hotel and while some of the furniture is showing signs of wear, it is all clean. Very well located for the city centre, station and the Okayama Korakuen gardens.

Everyone recommends this hotel and with good reason. Big comfortable rooms, welcoming staff and located between the station and the garden. Okayama proved to be a lovely smaller city, easy to move around and an easy link to Naoshima. There’s a good information desk at the station.

Wonderful hotel close to the train station. Clean and comfortable with a fantastic staff who recommended a small hip and delicious lunch spot near the Kōraku-en garden. Amazing value as well.

We weren’t very impressed with the breakfast buffet. There were a lot of interesting choices but most of the “hot” foods were cold. After trying it once, we decided to eat breakfast elsewhere. Stand (bagel shop) was quite good and just a block from the hotel. We especially liked their bagel with salmon and cream cheese and bagel with roasted pork pate.
Very spacious, comfortable room with a nice view overlooking the canal. Appreciated having a small table and two chairs. This allowed us to have a light meal in our room. Bed was comfy. Lots of space in the bathroom for our toiletries. Excellent laundry facilities. Washers and dryers were clean and instructions on how to use the machines are in English. Washers include detergent. Laundry baskets, drying racks and clothes hangers are available for guests to borrow. Excellent location, close to train station, convenience stores and shopping mall with several eateries. The Okayama Castle and Handayama Botanical Garden are just a quick tram ride away. Hotel staff were professional, efficient and helpful.

Greeted warmly and professionally. We felt like we were checking into a 5 star hotel with the reception desk. The included breakfast buffet was great, after enjoying so much Japanese food for breakfasts, it was refreshing to be able to get a mix of western and japanese.

Modern, felt new and premium. A short walk from the JR Okayama rail station with regional and shinkansen. Many dining options all around. A full-size convenience store off the lobby. A full breakfast buffet with many offerings, tasty.

Great location - walked from the station with all our luggage. Got an upgraded room which was great with a bit of extra space and a small table with chairs. Each floor had a mini gallery with art which was nice. Had a fabulous laundry room which had washers, dryers, hangers, baskets - everything you could you want especially if you have been travelling for a week. Staff were helpful.

The ryokan needs proper maintenance and the free use of private onsens is limited. Inflexible policy.

The breakfast was not good value for money. Arrived 40 minutes before finishing time and they were packing up and there were limited options. The croissants were dry and coffee very average. Was very disappointing.
