The location is a bit out of the way so access to restaurants and such is limited (of course there's nothing the hosts could do about that ;) ) we ended up driving to Minamioguni and Oguni for dinner our two nights.

EXCELLENT value for money. Complete detached building with its own private onsen bathhouse. Relatively large fridge, availability of microwave and toaster oven in addition to a kettle. Very quiet location. Good quality wifi.

not an easy drive, quite fun tho, spotted wild tanuki and wild rabbit in the mountains behind the premise when driving in dark. 10 o'clock must keep quiet and turn off bbq pit. wish can continue until 11pm

It’s a big space so takes a little bit to heat up.

Very spacious, few people in the onsen. Pretty scenery. Good option to rent a grill and cook your own food. We had the onsen all to ourselves. It snowed the morning after our stay!

- free bath towels should be available - it was quite moist - due to that it is in the middle of the forest - 3km from city center away and rare/none bus connections

- great price for a whole holiday house inclusive private indoor Onsen - everything available in house - great location with great view - we had an amazing sunset - barbecue set available if needed - several common Onsen We really enjoyed our stay :)

It's a good option close to Kurokawa Onsen as an alternative to the expensive ryokan there. Beautiful quiet mountain location. Nice baths. All you need for a self catering trip. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Better to have your own car.

For me not a problem but be aware that only toilet is inside the house. Shower is outside, near the onsen bath (however this is private area, surrended by wooden fence)

One of the best places we have ever stayed. The house is comfortable, clean and spacious. The private onsen is amazing as well as a terrace with grill table. You can rent a grill set for 3000 yens, charcoal was enough for us (2 people) to have a barbecue 3 times. Location with only forests around make the stay restful, however you need to have a car even to go to the shop. Amenities in the house (e.g kitchen equipement) were also a plus, everything you need to have a comfortable stay.

very nice private onsen and the room super clean. The Japanese owner even cannot speak English very well, but he still tried his best by using mobile phone translate apps to communicate with us. superb nice onsen and I will recommend to my friend in future.

We booked the accomodation for Kurokawa Onsen. It was pretty far away on foot, but the way led through a nice forest scenery. When we entered it was bigger and way more comfy than expected. It had a kotatsu, and even a private Onsen!

There were broken pieces of wood in the fence that made us worry that someone could easily watch us in the private onsen so I must insist that those be fixed.

The private onsen, the aircon heater, the kotatsu, the futons, the kitchen - everything was really amazing! We especially loved that we could stay warm so easily.

We didn’t expect the only bath venue in the house to be outdoors next to the onsen. It was difficult with a young child in chilly days.
