Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe night lighting a bit too dim.
A very traditional Ryokan with best services and great onsen facilities. The dinner was excellent! We booked a room with loft n private bath, the bed was so comfortable. We enjoyed all outdoor onsen and had a relex stay. A bit pricy but worth the money. One of the best Ryokan!

South KoreaA public hot spring is also provided indoors, but there is no private bathroom or private open-air bath in the room.
There are 5 private hot spring baths and 2 public open-air baths separated by men and women. A place where you can enjoy a hot spring like a hot spring.

Definitely a wonderful experience! The staffs were all kind and helpful, the decoration of the ryokan was traditional and stunning, and most important of all, I really enjoyed the different kinds of Onsens (both public and private) they offered.

JapanEverything was great.
One of the best places I have ever stayed. The design of everything is beautiful and traditional. The staff was extremely helpful and spoke perfect English. They provided the token we needed to onsen-hop around Kurokawa and held our bags until check-in time. Dinner was a multi-course affair and everything was expertly made and displayed beautifully. The service was phenomenal. There are several onsen options at the hotel, all are great. Everything was clean and well-stocked. They also arranged for a car to drive us to the bus station when we checked out which was very convenient.

JapanThe service provided by this hotel is extremely unsatisfactory. This is not acceptable by any organisation that claims to be part of the hospitality industry, let alone one that presents itself as a higher end luxury resort. We set out the various upsetting incidents we experienced as follows: 1. Our group arrived at the hotel and received some welcome snacks and drinks at the waiting area in the lobby. All of us were exhausted as we had just endured a long bus ride up the mountains to reach the resort, and wished to spend more time resting before settling into our rooms. With this in mind, we asked the hotel staff if we could: (1) have a knife so that we could enjoy some of the fresh fruits that we had purchased earlier in the day; and (2) have some more hot tea to combat the chilly weather. Unfortunately, both our requests were denied. The staff informed us that the waiting area we were seated in was a public space for all the hotel's guests, and we, therefore, should not be having our own food there. Instead, they would give us a knife for us to slice the fruits in our own rooms. They also said that if we wanted tea, we could simply get it from the coffee room within the premises. I do not understand why they are not even willing to accommodate these simple requests of allowing us to have fruit at the waiting area and pouring each of us another small cup of tea. We had already gotten off to a disappointing start before even checking in. 2. After checking in, I discovered that I was given a room with a loft bed. I found this arrangement to be very inconvenient for my wife and I, who are both in our 50s and can not climb up and down the sleeping area as easily as others. The loft area also has a horizontal beam at the exit that is awkwardly placed and caused us to keep hitting our heads every time we wished to enter! Therefore, we asked the staff if we could move the futons/beds down from the loft so that we could sleep on the first level instead.
The onsen bath was very comfortable.

JapanNone.
Welcome drink and sweet snack at arrival made us feel so great already. Outdoor fireplace in their mossy garden was such a lovely sight to see. Our family size room was nice and cozy, filled with the aroma of roasted tea leaf. Dinner and breakfast was fantastic.
