Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe location is a bit further away from main attractions, by walking, but was close to a train station that it wasn’t much of an inconvenience.
I really enjoyed my stay here! The beds were comfy and the room & bathroom were clean. The breakfast was decent enough for the price as well. Emiko was a great host and went above and beyond with literally everything. I’d definitely visit again.

United KingdomWe loved our stay!
Absolutely delighted with our stay. Emiko-san is an amazing host and gave us lots of recommendations for local travel and amenities. She even helped us to the correct metro station platform for our next destination on our last day. The room was lovely and quiet, and plenty of amenities provided. The area was fab as it was well-connected for travel on public transport, but away from the tourist hotspots so it was quiet. Nearby are lots of convenience stores and a whole variety of restaurants - we tried a different place every night. We would 100% stay here again if visiting Kyoto.

AustraliaI was not used to the noise of air con but it's more about my personal sensitivity to the noise. It was better on the second night as I am kinda getting used to it.
Good location to explore Kyoto. Walking distance to Sanjusangendo temple and Kyoto national museum and about 30 minutes walk to Kiyomizu-dera. It is also convenient to the other area for food and activities. Plus, Emiko and her families were always being nice and helpful. Emiko also offered to give me a lift to the Kyoto station on the day of check-out. I will definitely recommend Kyo-anthu inn to my friends.

Romania-
We had a wonderful stay. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, giving us useful advice on how to move around the town. Emiko speaks very good English. The hotel room looks just like in the photos posted on their website, and everything is very clean. The breakfast was fresh and slightly different each morning. The hotel is also well placed, just a few minutes walking from the bus station and the Keihan train Line (which reaches many touristic objectives in the city and up to Osaka).

FranceIt's a small guesthouse with few rooms. It's simple and cosy. Breakfast is served in the room. The welcome is warm and the owners, Emiko and her family, are very kind and helpful. She gave me some good restaurant adresses and offered to take me back to the train station. The guesthouse is close to a metro station (5min) and a convenience store. The main train station is 15-20 min away. I highly recommend it to people looking for a quiet place in Kyoto.

United StatesWe had to wait longer for buses and trains in this part of town, but it didn't bother us much. I think it was worth less transit options for such a good vibe overall.
I'm so sad we only stayed here one night. The hosts were so nice and made everything feel easy while we were there. We just needed one more night in Kyoto and this place was so much better than the first place we spent most of our time. The room was small, but just what we needed. There was good tea and when we realized we had missed printing a ticket that required a hard copy they printed it for us quickly and made sure we had it right away. I loved the breakfast here. It was a nice mix of things and they let us sit in the larger room since no one was staying in it when we were there. We will for sure try to make it back to this location when we make it out to Japan again!

IrelandExcellent, kind, and helpful host. Emiko and her family had great English and the inn was very welcoming and comfortable. I was even driven to Kyoto station once my stay was complete which was a great help. Excellent value for money and a ideal location to see many nearby temples and shrines. Lots of nature sightseeing opportunities close by as well. I highly recommend a stay at Kyo-Anthu Inn!

GermanyI loved this place a lot. Not far from Kyoto Station and many attractions such as Fushimi Inari (like a 10-15 Minute walk.) The owner is really nice and makes you feel very comfortable. The breakfast was top notched. Next time I'm in Kyoto, I hope to stay here again.

SingaporeI cannot think of any.
Location is walking distance to a station and a short bus ride to Kyoto station. The rooms are clean and bigger than Tokyo's. The ground floor room 1 comes with a big onsen type bath. Each of the 4 beds are big super single (I think). The host Emiko-san and her family are friendly and accommodative. She walked us to the station to show us the way on our first day. She and her dad offered to drop the 6 of us off at kyoto station after we check out. Me and my family will return if we ever come back to Kyoto.

United StatesNothing AT ALL :)
I was so sad to leave this inn. Emiko (the host) is so on top of everything, so friendly, speaks perfect English. She helped us send our bags in advance to Tokyo, gave us amazing restaurant recommendations, and made us feel right at home. The room itself is incredibly comfortable and perfectly designed/optimized. We also loved the breakfast as an easy way to start our day before exploring the city. The location is in a cute neighborhood with easy subway and bus access. We loved the location. I would never stay anywhere else in Kyoto, can’t recommend enough. Thank you emiko and family!

SingaporeThere were many amazing things about Kyo-Anthu Inn! First off, the hosts were incredibly friendly and nice. They would welcome you warmly, and Emiko would make sure that any questions you had about Kyoto were answered. She also recommended really interesting and unique things to do that I didn’t previously know about, and ended spending a rlly wonderful evening thanks to her awesome recommendations! On the day of the check-out, she even offered to drive me to Kyoto Station to catch my train - that was such a wholesome gesture which I rlly appreciated! The car ride was nice as I got to know more about Kyoto through a resident’s lens :) Secondly, the room was incredibly spacious - much more than any of the hotels I’ve stayed in in Japan. The room itself was super cozy too, and the beds rlly comfortable (had an awesome night’s sleep)! Finally, it is extremely well-located, being about a 15min walk from Kyoto Station, and a 5min walk from the train station which would get you to just about all the main sites in Kyoto (a 5min train ride to Gion!). It’s also in a residential area, so it is super peaceful and serene :) I found out later that they only had 3 rooms in the hotel, so was extremely lucky to have managed to book one of the rooms! Thank you for your kindness and hospitality, Emiko and family! :-)
