We had a lovely time staying at this beautiful machiya. The hostess, Natsuki San, is very kind and she preapred an itinerary for us upon arrival which we truly appreciate. It has a good a location. It is located near to different convenience store, grocery, shops, temples and Ninenzaka. We had a comfortable stay which feels like we're home. It's very clean and comes with complete amenities. We loved everything and we are looking forward in staying here again whenever we are in Kyoto.

Very clean and nicely done. Stashed away in a quiet alley amidst bustling roads/tourist hotspots. Minutes from key attractions like Kiyomizu-dera and Yasaka shrine. Could have stayed a night more. Too short a trip! Host natsuki is great and conversant in English! Very helpful in providing details about the neighborhood and what to do!

We chose Kyomachiya Suite Rikyu because it‘s the perfect location for our wedding ceremony and wedding reception venues. Really love the concept and feels very homey. The stay adds up as part of sweetest memories we had during our wedding day. To top it off, was really sweet of the hosts (T & N) for their warm welcome and wedding gift for us!

We booked this accommodation for 4 nights and it was absolutely incredible. What a great feeling to live as a local in a traditional japanese house! Natsuki warmly welcomed us with a big smile and a lot of enthusiasm. She was really nice. We loved everything. Just a heads up, the second bedroom involves setting up a Japanese futon on tatami mats in the downstairs room. We didn’t mind this at all, as it adds a charming and authentic touch to the experience.

We loved our stay at this charming Japanese townhouse, which was the perfect blend of tradition and modern comfort. Our hostess Natsuki was incredibly responsive and helpful before and during our stay, and even offered valuable suggestions for exploring Kyoto. The property is walking distance to some of Kyoto's main attractions, yet located in a quiet and lovely local neighborhood. True to the photos, but better in person.

We were in contact with the owner before traveling and she was very responsive and helpful. The location is superb and we were able to experience some of the local atmosphere of life in Kyoto. Highly recommend staying here.

The well-maintained kyomachiya Rikyu is located in a convenient place in Higashiyama which offers walking-distance experience to most of places of interests in the area. The hostess Natsuki san is more than a nice person who is willing to assist and accommodate everything just to ensure the guest a wonderful stay! She is also a local expert so that don't hesitate to ask any question if needed. The place keeps traditional look and feel while providing clean and warm vibe at the some time. Definitely a must-stay accommodation in Kyoto!

The property is located smack in the middle of Gion and Kiyomizu-dera, and surrounded by shops and supermarkets. You can buy groceries from the nearby supermarket and cook your own meals. It is a modern house equipped with a washing machine, cooker, fridge, nespresso machine, warm towels, electrical stove, kettle and a little garden. The host, Natsuki, was extremely thoughtful in providing us a list of possible places to visit nearby. She also waited for us late into the night as we arrived at the property quite late.

Its very near the sightseeing like temples. The appartement is very modern/old fashion japanese housing with hightec bathrooms. Host Natsuki was very helpful in every way. Very professional and fully prepared for our stay. Detailed informations around to eat and to shop where the seightseeings are ect.

The hostess (Natsuki) was very friendly and helpful. She prepared an itinerary for us and helped with taxi bookings. The property is very clean and in a good location. There is a lovely small garden, a tub for soaking in, and a well equiped kitchen. Our kids loved staying in the upstairs room.

Great Japanese house. Full of characters. Kids loved the details and traditional touches. Natsuki is a lovely lady. Very very helpful and always a text message away. The location was perfect. Local neighbourhood but only a short walk to all the touristy areas.

The suite is super clean and comfortable, very quiet, and has everything we need. Natsuki San is kind, thoughtful and easy to work with. We had such a wonderful time and wish we could stay for more time. Will definitely stay again when we come visit Kyoto in the future!

Everything was perfect.

We thought the piece was clean. The furniture and kitchen appliances were all top quality. It was very quiet and peaceful. The hotel was the best place we stayed when we were in Japan. We were even late for check in but the host kindly waited for us. Just a lovely place and we'll use it again the next time we're in Kyoto
