Beautiful small hotel located over a bakery/bagel shop. Rooms are spacious, with wooden beams and whitewashed walls. We stayed for 4 nights and breakfast was different each morning. Delicious freshly baked bagels included every morning. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Perfect location for exploring Kyoto. Plenty of restaurants within a short walking distance. Would definitely recommend staying at Kyono Mori Yurinsha if you visit Kyoto.

this was a really cute bed and breakfast style inn located in a residential neighborhood. the first floor is a cafe/restaurant serving home cooked brunch meals and pastries to go (get the bagels!!!!!). staff were super kind and hospitable. the rooms were cozy and minimally furnished. stairs only, no elevator. bathroom is small but manageable. the location is around 20 min walking to attractions like gion or nishiki market. however there are definitely restaurants and convenience stores just a few blocks away, as well as public transit access. overall this is a great place to stay, especially for small groups (1-2) who prefer a quiet environment and don’t mind doing a bit of walking to get to places. it was very different from our stay in large hotels in other Japanese cities and felt a little more welcoming, like staying in someone’s home.

We had a lovely stay, the room was nicely decorated, clean and had everything we needed. Good location in a nice quiet residential neighborhood, but within walking distance to everything you need. Breakfast was excellent, the bakery is amazing! We also bought some bagels and sandwiches for lunch which were delicious. Highly recommend

    Absolutely nothing

Where do I begin? This property is utterly charming. The owners are a family of true values. They are super friendly and make your stay so special. The food that we were served was the best that we have eaten in our 3 weeks of traveling in Japan. As well as being very tasty they were keen to help you understand what we were eating and traditions behind it. It is just opposite the ferry terminal. Once the tourists had left the island we could wander the streets in peace and quiet and see the shrine beautifully lit at night. We would highly recommend staying g the night here rather than a day trip from Hiroshima.

The room and bathroom are really small, even by Japanese standards.

The breakfast (pay extra) is very good food, excellent fresh ingredients. Nicol the host is very friendly and gave us wine glasses, plates and cutlery to use every night. There is a microwave outside the door, the fridge is in the room. I am glad we stayed on the top floor, as it was quiet and we had good privacy. The neighbourhood is wonderfully quiet at night.

Outstanding breakfast by the chef/owner! A beautiful small hotel, with hand crafted sturdy woodwork, and spacious rooms. Fabulous location for walking to Old Town Kyoto (Higashiyama District). Also, the owners spoke English and were extremely helpful to find transportation for us, when needed.

The bathroom was very tight and also required a step up from the room floor, which was a bit of a hazard. There aren't elevators here, which didn't bother us, but could be problematic for some.

The room was comfortable and helped us unwind after long days exploring Kyoto. It's not located super close to the subway, but it is within walking distance, and it's also close to some bus stops. It is fairly close to the Nishiki market area, which is cool to explore. Also like previous reviews, I love the aroma in the mornings - this is a hotel but also has a restaurant that bakes bread daily for purchase. And lastly, the staff is so nice! I wish I had gotten her name, but the woman who we primarily talked to at the front desk was so nice and helpful - such as accommodating a late check in and helping us ship our luggage to our next destination.

    Truly nothing

The staff were so kind! Breakfast was delicious, and the location was great. It got you out of the main area a bit, so it was quieter, but it was a short walk to all the shops and restaurants.

Pillows could have been better - I prefer the big fluffy / gel (western) type ones

About the breakfast: Must get. This accommodation cooks very fresh and simple meals for breakfast that left us full every morning. It was usually with a salad, a little yogurt, their house-made bagels/pastries and a soup or light dish to start the day. They sell the same pastries during regular business hours and it's lovely to have fresh. About the room: clean, quaint and simple room. Theres a microwave in the hallway but we ended up never using it. The front reception closes at 8pm so late check-ins definitely need to message them ahead of time to coordinate. About the location: very close to Gion district and around the corner from Men-Ya Inoichi michelin bib ramen (two locations)

You can hear the neighbours walking in the room because of the beautiful, stylish wooden floor.

It‘s a nice breakfast spot, fresh & handmade bread. Modern interior design, very friendly staff. It was rainy and they offert us an umbrella.

Nothing. There are stairs though, so if you have mobility issues you might want to request a lower floor. This was our second stay, and I would stay there the next time I visit, too.

Delicious breakfast: homemade bagels, home-cured bacon, vegetable soup, salads, yogurt and fruit, fruit juice, tea or coffee. Excellent start to the day. If you want to stay in an old part of the city, not in a faceless chain hotel, this is a great option. There is a convenience store and a supermarket a few minutes' walk from the inn. The bus stops are nearby and you're a few minutes from the Keihan train line too.
