Little hard to find, needed help from a taxi Once you find the place, then you are within walking distance to Nishiki Market.

Host is very nice. You can drop off your baggage if you arrive early before check in time and luggage will be brought to your room. Host also provided tea and cookies to welcome you. Wonderful Japanese breakfast in a private room!

There was nothing not to like.

Great location, just around the corner from nishiki market. I think there were only three staff members: lovely, the elder lady took our bags up to our room, very comfortable futons and pillows. Loved the bath! The room was a good size for 2 people.

We had trouble with our air conditioning working which made it quite warm in the room as we tried to sleep. We were also unaware that the ryokan was closed on Sundays which meant we couldn’t keep our bags there after check-out.

The owners of the property were very kind and accommodating. The onsite onsen was lovely and it was so nice to try a traditional Japanese breakfast. The room was spacious and came with Yakutas which we could wear around the ryokan.

Outstanding breakfast, great location and the friendliness and responsiveness of the staff were excellent! I would stay here again and recommend this location to anyone who wants a Ryokan experience.

We had a very lovely stay at this Ryokan! Clean and spacious rooms that had everything you needed, extremely friendly staff and the location was just amazing. Also traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious!

It’s tucked away behind the market on a quiet street. We first took a bus to get there and rolled our suitcases over for a couple of minutes. When we left, we didn’t have luck hailing a taxi and Uber took an hour until a driver took our request

The location is right next to Nishiki market and only a 15 minute walk to Gion. The breakfast was delicious and a must experience!

The people/family that are running this place were super nice and kind. The room was larger than excepted and exactly what we hoped for when looking for a ryokan to stay in. The location is quite convenient as well, close to some big shopping streets and lots of restaurants. Our short stay was an exceedingly pleasant experience and I'm very glad that we chose this place.

This is very minor and not a big deal at all, but my room had the toilet and shower on opposite ends of the room, so had to cross the living room to get to the other part. Again, very minor, and it might have just been my room’s layout.

The owners of the ryokan were so friendly and really tried to make guests feel at home! I also enjoyed the delicious food at breakfast every morning (different menu everyday) and getting to relax in the bath after each day of exploring was awesome! The ryokan is also in a perfect location, close to Nishiki Market and transportation. Room was clean and it was actually really comfortable sleeping on the tatami.

The hosts were extremely gracious, and I love that it’s family-owned, in the building they live in! There is lovely tatami in the rooms and pretty comfy futons, with beautiful, minimalist decoration. Yukata and tea were provided for a full, relaxing ryokan stay.

The property was very nice and welcoming. The rooms nice and spacious.. The onsen was also a real highlight and so relaxing after a long day of sightseeing The traditional breakfast was also a nice experience.

the property and rooms were beautiful. the location is amazing and very close to everything! Most major attractions were a short walk or bus trip. the hosts were so so lovely and accommodating. Very friendly and helpful. if we return to Kyoto we will be staying here again!!

We had to leave the room key at reception, and there was a curfew between 11pm-6am. This was fine as the host assured us her house was always with someone at reception, and the room was locked. Being the tail end of our trip we were able to go out for the day and be back by 11pm.

Kyonoyado Kagihei is a beautiful ryokan run by the most lovely people. The location was 30 seconds on foot from the Nishiki markets. We were able to comfortably walk around Kyoto. The accommodation was simple and spacious.

Nothing to complain about!

Absolutely wonderful. Very clean and spacious rooms! The hotel is directly located in downtown. For breakfast I could additionally book japanese breakfast which then gets served in a dining hall you'll be getting a separate room in japanese style - I liked it! The rooms itself too were old japanese style designed with tatami mats, wallscrolls and futon beds. The staff was very kind and very helpful, even though with my limited japanese, they helped me in english perfectly. They offered the service Ta-Q-Bin to delivery your suitcases to another location like other hotels, too! For the washing machine you can simply drop off your clothes at the reception for a small fee to have them washed and dried. Should you want to go out in the late night, it is best to talk to the staff beforehand. I liked the short stay there and I will definitely pay a visit again at Kyonoyado Kagihei in Kyoto!
