The property was perfect for our 3 days in Kyoto. The size of the room was great and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were stocked with everything you might need. The cypress tub onset was wonderful after a day of walking. The staff were incredibly kind, understanding and accommodating. We love this place!

Loved the location, close to Kyoto station to get around & join the hustle & bustle - but tucked away so peaceful enough so you could still sleep with your window open! The rooms were a great size & every detail has been considered.

We absolutely loved the traditional style of the staff and the location. We felt like we got an authentica taste of the old ways here. The staff were exceptional! Very kind and professional. The location was beautiful and we were able to walk comfortably to several locations. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Do yourself a favour and stay here, the location is fantastic and the amenities amazing. The rooms are very big, the wooden bath was a dream and felt like an onsen. The bed super soft and close to the station and 20 minute walk to Nishiki market

A pleasant change , differing from conventional hotels. We opted for Japanese breakfast and enjoyed it while it was served to our room. Room was spacious , well maintained and comfortable.

It was a gorgeous place to stay close to the station and also close to the river and not too far from the amazing temples and Gion. The rooms were amazing with the wooden bath and the breakfast brought to the room was delicious and set us up for a day of exploring!

Very friendly staff that would make sure to remember each guest, rooms were very well sized and beautifully laid out. Cypress bath was very nice and helped unwind at the end of the day. Would recommend as it's a nice cozy establishment in a great part of Kyoto.

I was in awe of Japanese hospitality that I voiced my appreciation in a bow and a verbal "arigatou gozaimashita" before I left. My stay was so great that I should have booked more than one night here in Kyoto.

It was the comfiest ryokan experience that left me wanting to return again someday. Indeed, there are more traditional ryokans in more remote areas of Japan. However, this ryokan was hospitable to a foreigner like me and spoke in English when I was checking in. My shoes were stored in a shoe locker at the entrance. Then, the staff gave me a pair of slippers to wear on the premises. They also offered a breakfast service for a fee, which I took on, and the next morning, their Japanese breakfast set was nice. The tatami mats were too comfortable and the room was clean enough that lying on the floor felt safe and relaxing. The highlight of the ryokan was their cypress bath. The receptionist explained that they took special care of their bath and after taking my first ever Japanese bath, I understood why baths were sacred to the Japanese people. So, I had to respect the facilities, and rather than using my own soap, I used their provided soaps to keep the bath clean for others in the future. Location-wise, the ryokan was situated in the center of a neighborhood close to the Shichijo subway station, but was an easy 20 minute walk from JR Kyoto Station.
