It is not that I did not like it, just want you to be aware that there are no elevators. A staff member carried my luggage without me asking to the 4th floor. Thanks.

The staff was super friendly. It is a bit further out of most touristic place, but I loves the location away from the crowds but still close. I can highly recommend this place.

    See above.

Location was very good for walking to places. However it is a very old hotel without lifts and they had put us on the 4th level which, I think, was a better room, but they could see we (being 70+yrs) would not be able to drag bags up four floors. They altered our booking to the ground level but the room wasn’t very nice. It was more manageable though. Didn’t know this info at time of booking so it should be made more clear to help older folk.

There aren't so many restaurants right by the hotel, you need to go in a bit for that but that's not a huge issue

The staff at Kyoto Travellers Inn were so nice, helpful and consumate professionals who would hand us our room key as we walked in from day one they knew us. The hotel is an easy walk to lots of busy parts of Kyoto but a haven of quiet from the crowds as well. I loved the little onsen downstairs and the bathrobes they provided. This is a great location to visit many temples although a hike to one or two of the most famous but it's well connected by bus and underground. It was less than ¥3500 in a taxi from the train station but you can also do it quite easily on the subway if you're familiar with how Japanese trains work. There's a 7 eleven on the corner which is handy and a lot of nice shops nearby. It's also close to the Philosophers Path walk which was beautiful in Cherry Blossom season

The room decor is a little tired but not an issue. The rooms are quite small, but this seems to be similar in most Japanese cities.

The location was excellent, very friendly staff, great value, comfortable beds, clean with rooms serviced often and had everything we needed. Breakfast was great too.

The rooms need a makeover - nothing grave, but fresh paint/wallpaper and new ac (ac does work, but is outdated and relatively slow).

The staff was just great! Very friendly and helpful, always professional.

    Elevator?

Good location near museum & heianjingu. Kind staffs, good $ value and even small public baths is big plus for good night sleeps. Relatively outdated facilities with no elevator, but would consider as a classic Japanese style.

Despite pro-environment notices in the room, my towels seem to have been changed daily - this was not necessary as I had hung them up ready for re-use. I think there were boxes for recycling on each landing: however as the labels were only in Japanese I could not work out what I might recycle, where.

Clean and tidy, nice facilities, very friendly and courteous staff.

Took the Japanese room to try it out. It's my first traditional Japanese room (and probably the last...), didn't really like sleeping without a bed in the end but that's the idea I guess. However, besides that there was nowhere to sit down when you enter the room, before the tatami, which made it pretty hard to pack/unpack luggage or even just to take off shoes. Also found a little spider on my mattress...

Very friendly staff, in a decent location close to the art museum and the shrine. Very easy to spot the hotel with its large English signage on the building. One of the only places I found that has Japanese rooms with private bathrooms.

Because I made bookings on the same days, I stayed in a different room each night I was there. The cleanliness of the room depends on who cleans it and there was a noticeable difference. It didn't bother me that much but guests' experiences may differ depending on which room they stay in.

The hotel is conveniently located and I was lucky enough to stay here for 2 nights when plans fell through and I had to quickly find a hotel nearby. The room was simple but the bed was very comfortable.

Dryers didn't work well - took two cycles for a small load plus extra air drying time in room.

Staff were really friendly. Rooms were quiet with lots of bedding options. Right across the road from Philosopher's Path and close to a 7-11. Easy walk to downtown Kyoto with lots of little stores along the way.

The air filter in the bathroom was very dirty, it's something I noticed in many hotel and this one makes no exception.

The place is ok it's simple and with a reasonable price, my room was clean and nearby there are few good restaurant and a combini. I went there to join an event and the hotel is super near, just few minutes walkin, so it was a very good choice. The car parking is super convenient.

The duvet covers did not appear clean and had numerous brown stains and/or bits stuck to them. This meant we were not too fond of the brown towels provided. Lighting not great.
