Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt is not that I did not like it, just want you to be aware that there are no elevators. A staff member carried my luggage without me asking to the 4th floor. Thanks.
The staff was super friendly. It is a bit further out of most touristic place, but I loves the location away from the crowds but still close. I can highly recommend this place.

AustraliaSee above.
Location was very good for walking to places. However it is a very old hotel without lifts and they had put us on the 4th level which, I think, was a better room, but they could see we (being 70+yrs) would not be able to drag bags up four floors. They altered our booking to the ground level but the room wasn’t very nice. It was more manageable though. Didn’t know this info at time of booking so it should be made more clear to help older folk.

United KingdomThere aren't so many restaurants right by the hotel, you need to go in a bit for that but that's not a huge issue
The staff at Kyoto Travellers Inn were so nice, helpful and consumate professionals who would hand us our room key as we walked in from day one they knew us. The hotel is an easy walk to lots of busy parts of Kyoto but a haven of quiet from the crowds as well. I loved the little onsen downstairs and the bathrobes they provided. This is a great location to visit many temples although a hike to one or two of the most famous but it's well connected by bus and underground. It was less than ¥3500 in a taxi from the train station but you can also do it quite easily on the subway if you're familiar with how Japanese trains work. There's a 7 eleven on the corner which is handy and a lot of nice shops nearby. It's also close to the Philosophers Path walk which was beautiful in Cherry Blossom season

United KingdomThe room decor is a little tired but not an issue. The rooms are quite small, but this seems to be similar in most Japanese cities.
The location was excellent, very friendly staff, great value, comfortable beds, clean with rooms serviced often and had everything we needed. Breakfast was great too.

United KingdomDespite pro-environment notices in the room, my towels seem to have been changed daily - this was not necessary as I had hung them up ready for re-use. I think there were boxes for recycling on each landing: however as the labels were only in Japanese I could not work out what I might recycle, where.
Clean and tidy, nice facilities, very friendly and courteous staff.

IsraelTook the Japanese room to try it out. It's my first traditional Japanese room (and probably the last...), didn't really like sleeping without a bed in the end but that's the idea I guess. However, besides that there was nowhere to sit down when you enter the room, before the tatami, which made it pretty hard to pack/unpack luggage or even just to take off shoes. Also found a little spider on my mattress...
Very friendly staff, in a decent location close to the art museum and the shrine. Very easy to spot the hotel with its large English signage on the building. One of the only places I found that has Japanese rooms with private bathrooms.

JapanBecause I made bookings on the same days, I stayed in a different room each night I was there. The cleanliness of the room depends on who cleans it and there was a noticeable difference. It didn't bother me that much but guests' experiences may differ depending on which room they stay in.
The hotel is conveniently located and I was lucky enough to stay here for 2 nights when plans fell through and I had to quickly find a hotel nearby. The room was simple but the bed was very comfortable.
