Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt is an old building so sound insulation is not the best (they provide free ear plugs though). There is also no lift so may not suit people who cannot walk up stairs or carrying big heavy luggage
The dormitory/ pod sleeping space is spacious and well equipped with power and fan. Many good quality amenities such as face wash and moisturizer are provided. Location is 5-10 mins walk from Fukushima station and there are many restaurants/ shops near by. The host is very friendly and can speak English well.

JapanLockers are metallic and in the room, hence making a lot of noise when used. There were only 2 showers on my floor, which is too few when the bedrooms are full.
Towels, ear plugs and slippers were provided. Capsules were quite comfortable with available storage inside and lockers in the room. Check-in and out were smooth and the electronic door opening system was easy to understand.

GermanyThe room was very cold and I had to have the noisy air conditioning running all night to have a warm room.
Very kind and helpful host. The room has a good size and the bed is comfy. The hostel is in the middle of Fukushima city and only a few minute walk from the train station.

Nice hostel, quite clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are quite basic and quite clean. Unfortunately a room mate was quite noisy after coming back very late in the night. Nice common room where you can work with PC (free wifi). The hostel is about 15-20 minutes walk from Fukushima train station.

Friendly staff They have all you might need (even batteries, etc...) Even it's small place but you can feel their hospitality by the way they prepare full set of Muji skincare or mask or sanitary for women.

United StatesUnreliable hot water in the shower. The hostel bike rentals are Y3000+ which was too expensive to consider, so I was glad the city bikeshare exists for shorter trips. The hostel exterior and interior stairs are steep and plentiful and it was difficult to move in my very narrow bunk bed room. You will have difficulty accessing the building and rooms if you have physical disabilities.
Convenient location and a comfortable affordable bed. They will loan a bicycle helmet for free if you want to wear one using the city's Momorin-share bicycle rental service.

Switzerland- Really loud ventilation in the dorm - I didn't like the bed curtains, the fact that they are full of holes at the top gives you no privacy and lets the light in - The small fan in the bed was pretty dusty so I never turned it on
- Nice and helpful owner - Lots of amenities - Good location - Clean - The a/c worked well and the room temperature was comfortable

JapanEven though there were enough number of bathrooms, there were only two sinks on the second floor. So in the morning, that area was a little bit crowded, one has to wait a littl, if he/she wants to prepare oneself for the day in front of a mirror.

CambodiaBedroom 's LED reading light was not with a battery and charging cable must be plugged. The safe box was outside the bed booth and was inconvenient. It was a metal locker and was noisy. No kitchen and no utensils. Shower room was small and bumped arms & elbows at walls. No living room & only utility space and isle. Need to use the 2nd floor restaurant zone but the chairs were not the types that let you relax.
Location:close to Fukushima station. Quiet place, middle of a touristy commercial zone. Room: comfortable bed, electric outlet is good. Shared bathroom and living room area: there was a refrigerator, an electric kettle, a microwave all looked new, clean, and worked. Shower room was clean, soaps, shower etc were fine. Washing machine and dryer fine. The facility was set up kind of fashionable with all white tone. Air circulators were on 24hrs and it moved air .

JapanThe bunk-beds in the hostel do not have a privacy curtain, that is the only thing I would have added to the experience. Although the lights went out at 10pm, the dimmed light still shone into the bunk-bed and it was hard to sleep with movement and light outside.
I lived in Fukushima before, so it was not hard to find. It was nice staying in a place that was centered and convenient close to restaurants and the river. I Will definitely stay there again when I visit my old home. The food was exceptional, and Ito-san was incredibly kind. He is a very interesting person with tonnes of stories. He is welcoming and friendly and I enjoyed talking to him. Bathrooms are clean and beds were clean and tidy. Towels were included in the stay and read on our pillows when we checked in.
