Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThis hotel is slightly far to the city area and it is highly recommended you travel by car. The food is unfortunately a bit behind in respect to its hotel star rating.
Well organised onsen and offer free private family bath which is extremely rare to see! Lovely staff!

AustraliaThe room interiors need to be updated and the ten minute walk from the train station is a bit difficult due to the lack of foot paths.
The family and public onsens were lovely and we never had to wait for a family onsen. The building is atttactive and the rooms were well equipped.

United StatesThere’s not much to do near the property. We had a car so this wasn’t an issue.
The in room onsen was great. The room was bigger than the average Japanese hotel with both western style beds and tatami.

NetherlandsThe facilities, a lot of stuff costs additional cash, you want a toothbrush 100 yen. I never need one cause I bring my own but charging your guests is weird after paying this amount. I know they want to help the environment but like other hotels they should just have it in the lobby for free if you ask for it. Japan stop this SDG stuff, it will be your downfall. The breakfast is included and you can grab a cup of coffee but the rest of the day you are on your own, you got some tea in your room but if you want coffee you are in for a disappointment, to be fair I didn't ask for it cause I just looked at the closed of restaurant and saw vending machines at the public bathing area... Even the massage chairs cost 100 yen. In other hotels I have been on my trip all these things were free and the hotels were much much much cheaper. It's not bad, but if I look at the price... Minor improvements can be made. One thing I do take seriously is the cleaning of the room. At first glance it looked it was clean no complaints there, then I started coughing so I started to look more at my surrounding to see that there was dust everywhere in the ridges of the bed on the tables. The floor was clean, the beds looked clean, the sanitary facilities looked clean but the dust was everywhere. For someone who is sensitive for dust this wasn't a pleasant experience. Overall we are not to picky so we are more then satisfied, these minor improvements would make the hotel even better and attract more guests. Currently Ito looked kind of sad with lots of closed shops, not sure if it was a holiday break or permanent but they could use the tourism... I really loved walking around there, I dislike the city areas but I loved it here.
The staff does a good job making you feel as a guest when you enter, they help you speak very well English especially if you compare it to the rest of Ito. It doesn't matter for me if someone can speak English or not but I think many casual tourist depend on that. The private onsen was fantastic, but you could also use the public one so you can choose! We tried both just to compare and even in the public bathroom there is a 'private onsen'. I guess this is for couples/families that's nice if you dont want the room with the onsen. The breakfast is fine, typical Japanese dishes but I really like that they serve 'shabu shabu' a small fish dish, Ito close to the sea means tasty fish and they have shown it. Downstairs it's really clean and you can even bathe your feet outside, I did some reading on my phone while just sitting there with my feet in the hot water. The rooms are gigantic for Japanese terms, we had two beds but we could also make use of futons.

AustraliaI had a good night’s sleep, but my wife was kept up by noisy guests in the corridor at around 11.30 pm. This isn’t the hotel’s fault of course - it’s the guests’ fault - but noting that the soundproofing between the room and the corridor isn’t great.
Loved the room. We had a private onsen. The public onsen was also great. Spacious and enjoyable. The breakfast was good - lots of variety.

Singapore1. Unlike other properties, we had to setup our own bedding for the night in our Japanese style room. 2. In the name of being eco-friendly, amenities like toothbrush, razor and hair brush were not provided but instead were available for sale! If they really want to be eco-friendly yet be hospitable, then they should have such amenities available when requested but without charge. 3. When we first arrived the weather was a bit warm. The room aircon however was not cold even when set to the lowest at 20C. According to the front desk, this was set across the entire hotel and could not be made colder and suggested I open the window.! To their credit, the hotel provided a fan, and fortunately the weather turned cooler in the subsequent days.
In a quiet area, hotel has nice ambience, baths were clean and not crowded.

SingaporeI didn't like the bed and pillows. Found the bed especially hard and firm. 1 of 2 pillows was hard & ribbed, the other soft. By the 3rd day, I had a backache. They also didn't offer fabric freshener/deodoriser - as this was winter, I had expected to be able to deodorize my outerwear, especially after walking from the station to the hotel.
Google Maps said the location was 8mins out from Ito station, but I found I walked 15mins while lugging the suitcase there. That is still considered near and I didn't mind the walk at all. Other hotels can be even further (needing a shuttle bus). Being nearer to the station mean food options are greater. There are great restaurants nearby and a nice bakery as well which I bought for supper and breakfast. I loved the fact that they provide many clothes hangers. This is a great plus. I booked a room that had an onsen inside. I stayed for 2 nights, and the staff readied the rooms with 4 towel sets (2 per night) - similar for the water bottles, teabags etc.

We booked the room with a private onsen. It was spacious and comfortable. The kaiseki dinner was delicious and the restaurant staff were very helpful, they provided me with a reclining chair/bed for my 4 month old who can’t sit up yet and I was able to enjoy my dinner as my baby fell asleep in it. Dining is very family and child friendly.

AustraliaI am surprised the hotel does not have a better rating. It's a really nice Wellness hotel. The beautiful outside Onsens was what we wanted. And it was affordable compared to other onsen hotels. The staff at reception spoke good English. Also in the restaurante, we had an English speaking waiter. The food is excellent. Book for dinner at least once!. We had a Japanese style room and didn't know what that meant, but you have your bed on the floor, which was a great experience. The town is cute, like a holiday area in more rural areas is Europe. Supermarket in walking distance and food options.

SingaporeFront desk service was a little lacking for the price tag and we were not contacted before our stay regarding the dinner time for the keiseiki dinner. Food quality was subpar and wouldn’t recommend the dinner. Despite registering 4 guests for our room, on both days we only had 3 towels and 2 belts for the yukata. Also we did not get any top up of water bottles. These show a lack of attention to detail. Overall service blueprint and touchpoints has room for improvement. We also didn’t have any help with unloading and loading the luggages upon arrival
The facilities were nice and so was the room layout - we got the double beds with a tatami area for the kids.
