The hospitality was so warm and welcoming we felt almost at home! The staff were so friendly, food was very good, In addition to that, we also had our food adjusted to our liking. The room was comfortable, everything felt so authentic. As a bonus on the day that we checked out it was raining, so they offerred us a ride to the nrarest train station!

Traditional Japanese dishes are really exquisite and delicious. Also, the hotel service is hospitable. We stayed two days enjoying their Onsen and relaxing environment.

Although I was happy to try all the food, it was harder to do this at breakfast when the flavors are strong.

We were willing to try all foods and onsen experiences. Fish is not our favorite but the experience was fantastic and the staff helped us to navigate how to eat the various foods. They also gave us clear guidance on the clothes and baths. It was an experience I will never forget.

Dinner and breakfast were exceptional. It was a beautiful and delicious meal. An onsen was excellent. I liked the open-air onsen very much(we could book it for ourselves for half an hour).

The towels were very old and thin. The towels could be replaced. During meals it would be nice if the courses were served slower. We found each course was served all at once. Communication to all customers of the intent of the Ryokan. I agree with families staying and being welcomed, but having children running around the ryokan when many guests have come for a peaceful experience is disrespectful.

The staff were amazing and helpful The Neal’s were all well presented and tasty.

The room looks clean but when you look into the details you can see dust on windowsills etc. I saw the stain under the bed sheet.

Dinner and breakfast are very good. They provided a lot of food, and we enjoyed them very much. We had private bath which was very nice and relaxing. The public bathroom is very clean.

The interior needs updating. The pillows were very hard and at night there was a green light from the fan that illuminated the entire room making it slightly difficult to sleep.

We loved the Onsen. The food was great but a bit too much for us. The location was amazing and serene. We really loved the accessibility to the cable car and gondola as well as the open air museum etc. It was kid friendly. We traveled with our 10 and 12 year old's and they were treated kindly. We loved wearing the Yakudas provided as well. Tea time in our room was wonderful and the mattresses we slept on were great. I appreciated that they set them up and put them away for us while we ate meals.

Onsen not hot enough, a bit run down. More towels please...they don't dry between the onsen visits.

It is located at a bit steepness place so not good to carry heavy luggage.

Lalaca is located up a steep hill so may be tough to get there on foot if you are carrying heavy bags.

Staff were polite and helpful, are English competent. Loved the traditional dinner and breakfast and the experience of wearing yukatas everywhere, traditional Japanese public bathing facilities, the outdoor onsen after dinner where you can gaze up at the stars before falling asleep on futons in a tatami room. We had fantastic view of the mountains from our window. Quiet location.

It was a steep slope up to Lalaca, which may be difficult for some. May be better if a shuttle bus can be provided frm the station

Nothing specifically to comment on. Maybe if I went to other Ryokan/Onsen's I could compare, but I'd still probably think that what you get for the price can't be beat. Maybe, as others have said, the location. If you don't directly taxi to the accommodation, the angled road could take a toll on you. Can plan around it though.

(September 2023) Haven't been to another Ryokan/Onsen to compare, but for the price and my thoughts going in, my expectations were exceeded. Multiple staff members knew English and were very accommodating and personable. The food was great, room was the perfect size for three guests. Four could probably work, but maybe would be tight. (unsure if there's different sized rooms, maybe there's a larger one available).

Our experience in Lalaca was excellent, meeting all my expectation. They provide traditional Japanese clothes . The dinner was amazing with so many small dishes. Onsen was great.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Meals were authentic Japanese, but they also gave my ten year old son a bit of western food to fill him up. The room and onsen were very clean and comfortable.
