Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandWe were kind of confused about getting how to get our room cleaned but I think we just misread the pamphlet so just read it carefully if you want your room cleaned !
The bath was the best thing - all the facilities were great but the bath was so lovely and deep. The cafe downstairs has a really lovely atmosphere and pretty good food. The surrounding area is really cool with lots of thrift shops.

United StatesThe pillows were not the most comfortable and the bathtub was short (from an American perspective of what a bathtub should be).
The little café was super cute and the breakfasts were delicious! The room was cozy, but still big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. They loved the bunk beds!

United StatesUse of stairwell would be nice, as there is only one small elevator. English instructions for air conditioner, printed on a card, would be helpful. There was no remote for air-conditioner in my room.
Amazing hotel...every little detail is well planned, artistic and functional. Great location with unlimited shops, cafes, bars all within walking distance. Loaner umbrellas for rain. Laundry machines. Very nice lobby area with cafe, seating, electric outlets, bathrooms, luggage storage. And, the staff was superb for suggestions.

United StatesThe descriptions said every room had a refrigerator, but our second room only had what seemed to be a wine chiller, which had no temperature controls, awkward shelves (for anything but bottles) and wasn't cold enough to keep drinks (like soda, beer, or milk) sufficiently cold. Konbini shopping, while mundane, was a key part of the Japan trip, and not being able to chill beers, juices, sodas, fruit jellies, etc.. It was a bit of an unexpected sore point for such an otherwise wonderfully appointed hotel. This only affected one of our rooms, mine had a proper mini-fridge (we were a party of 2, each with their own room). Thus, it might be worth confirming the "every room has a refrigerator" claim, if that's important. We were on the second floor, but had to take the elevator to get to the first floor. The only staircase we found was an emergency staircase (the fact it was an "emergency" staircase wasn't clear until we had already passed through the one-way door, and exited via metal staircases and around the side of the building--awkward! and then saw the signs on the other side of the exit prohibiting use outside of emergencies). There was only a single elevator, and more than 5 floors with many people coming and going, so entering/leaving sometimes felt like a bit of a bottleneck.
The most standout memory from this stay was the staff. We had many positive staff experiences during our Japan trip, but the staff here really stood out for really going out of their way. They managed to find an extra room for us when we realized our original plan of a single twin room was too cramped. One of them spent a lot of time helping me with my first time Yamato (Takkyubin) usage. They also summoned and then helped us chase down (on foot!) the errant taxi out in the streets. The rooms were both clean and modern, and also a little funky (definitely had a dash of hipster), and very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. The cafe in the lobby was open fairly late and a nice alternative to a traditional lobby. The drinks and food they served were satisfyingly tasty. The location was really great, right in the middle of many shops and restaurants in a dense commercial area (Tenjin), and very convenient to the Tenjin station entrances to the east, and the parks to the west. It was a really great place to from which to enjoy Fukuoka! I would easily stay here again.

United KingdomThe breakfast was not really to our taste- would have loved a Japanese breakfast option!
Situated in a fashionable area of Fukouka with lovely bars and restaruants and vintage shops, we loved the vibe of this book themed hotel. It was reasonably priced and all check ins/ outs efficient. Our luggage was stored when we needed to leave it.

GermanyThe hotel is modern and comfortable and the rooms are quiet. There's a café in the lobby, where you can have breakfast if you pre-order the day before and the employees are very nice. You can also borrow an umbrella if it's raining and you get a pyjama for your stay. The location is also very convenient as you can walk to the city center and there are many restaurants nearby.

United StatesA stated above, and in many other reviews, the rooms are very small. We had a large suitcase and we couldn't fit it in the room without taking out the armchair that was in the room. Value-wise, it's a bit expensive, but that's what you get if you want to stay in the nicest area of the city. Worth it!
Great hotel, right in the heart of Daimyo, which is the hipster part of the city of Fukuoka. It reminds me of a bit of an Ace Hotel-vibe, in that the rooms are tiny, the neighborhood is ultra-cool, the staff is efficient, capable and friendly, and the rooms are very small. The breakfast was good and just easy with a family of 6. (NOTE: A lot of nearby coffee shops don't open til 10am, a pervasive theme in Japan in many cities, which i personally don't understand, but that's my problem! So, being able to get a coffee at 8 or 9am was pretty valuable here in the hotel.) The staff is great and they help you store your luggage after you've checked out, which can be really helpful if you're not leaving Fukuoka til later in the day.
