Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was a little small but it had everything we needed.
Love the books theme. The room had books on the shelves to browse and a chair and footstool for reading. There are books you can borrow from the main library in the reception. The breakfast was good too.

United KingdomAs it’s in the action a lot of outside noise. But, headphones in, balcony shut, fridge unplugged, it’s ok. It’s just hot, but there is aircon, if you’re happy with that noise. This might be a me issue 😂
Clean and comfy, right in the action. Helpful happy staff

United KingdomNothing.
What a lovely hotel to stay in! We loved the location, the book cafe, the facilities and staff were great. A perfect spot to explore Nagoya and visit the Ghibli theme park. The hotel is just a couple of minutes on the line which takes you to Ghibli park. The room was a good size (for Japanese hotels) and the staff were always helpful and friendly. Plus there were books in the room too.

Hong KongI like the idea of book sharing. Walkable distance to JR & Meitetsu Bus Station, only 15 mins. And the Metro station just near by the door.

AustraliaOnly two washing machines/dryers for the whole hotel.
Room was modern and spacious. No problems with having our luggage delivered here, and the staff were very helpful in helping us deliver it on to the next location. Staffed 24 hours. Cafe was open late and sold good coffee. Laundry facilities in the lobby. Library was interesting, but obviously all the books were in Japanese. Very close to a metro station.

GermanyI was super happy with the location, the hotel is about 15 to 20min walking distance from Nagoya Station, Fushimi Metro station is less than 5min walking distance. Huge thanks to the hotel staff which was super friendly and helpful for my questions in advance! The hotel design is interesting and looks unique, the library in the first floor next to reception and hotel cafe results in a pretty nice and calm welcome! For the room itself, it is concluded in just a few words: Small ... but very well set-up, comfortable bed, small sofa, minibar and a small but functional bathroom. Laundry/dryer machines are available on the ground floor, washing & drying was about 500 Yen. There are some small restaurants near the hotel, more options closer to Nagoya Station. 7 Eleven store is about 3min walking distance, a Lawsone store just across the hotel entrance. For my stay, everything was perfect – I can highly recommend the hotel!

CanadaAfter 4 delightful nights we were left with glowing memories of Nagoya and Lamp Light Books hotel. The book theme that runs from the bookstore with rental books in the lobby, to the key cards, and signage is quirky and adds character. The location was superb for our purposes. It's right beside a quiet tree-filled park and 5 minutes walk from a subway station. That station is only one station away from Nagoya Station which is massive and where all the Shinkansen trains leave from. There are a couple of convenience stores and local Izakaya restaurants close by. Our room had a cute little balcony with sliding doors that allowed airflow. Everything was ultra clean and you could opt for full room cleaning or just getting new towels. The staff are kind, efficient, and welcoming. Highly recommend staying here and exploring underrated Nagoya, especially the SC Maglev and Toyota museums.

United StatesIt was all pleasant
It was very cozy, the Cafe food was good as well. The ladies at the front desk were always greeting you when you came back in or left. Loved the balcony I had were I could enjoy the brisk japanese night air as I relaxed outside. I usually don't use the public washer/dryer, but these had a locking feature so your clothes were secure. The amazing ladies in front were kind enough to give me change for the machines.

NetherlandsThe breakfast portions were a bit small, although it could easily be supplemented by the convenience store across the street if necessary.
The hotel was delightful, the cafe/book store on the ground floor was a very nice space to get a coffee or tea and read a book, and the breakfast was very tasty. The location was also very good, only a short distance from the nearest subway stop. While I did not use the service myself you could borrow books from the cafe to read, even in your hotel room if you wanted, to give it a try before deciding if you wanted to buy it. The rooms themself were also just spacious enough, with a small reading nook with a comfortable chair and reading lamp.

VietnamIt's quite dusty in the room.
I love how cozy the lobby is! It's a 24 hour book coffee shop, I wish if I spent more days in Nagoya, I would spend one chill evening just to sit down in the lounge, watch the sun go down, read some books and enjoy a cup of coffee.

GermanyNothing much to complain about. Maybe the doors could be more sound proof, but then again guests didn't make a lot of noise in the corridor.
Book themed hotel, with a small library in the lobby (and a cafe) and also a reading chair in the room, which I loved. Everything is clean, staff is very friendly and location is pretty good (1 station away from Nagoya main station with a very short walk). If you get a room with a window to the front, you'll actually get a pretty nice view (I was close to the top floor and that was quite nice). You'll enjoy your stay there even if you don't like to read.
