Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe lamp light hotel was a beautiful place with a very well-equipped room. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing area downstairs with great books to read. This place is a must for any book lover - for everyone, it is a great place to stay for your time in Nagoya.

United KingdomThe washer and dryer machine is perhaps a little expensive.
Fantastically friendly staff. The shower is the best I've used in any hotel. Breakfast items are perhaps a little too cute to eat, but very delicious if you do eat them. Being able to borrow books from the library. There is a coin-operated washer and dryer available, which was a godsend for me.

United StatesThe hotel - everything was fine. FYI: The weather was wicked hot and muggy in end of July/beginning of August.
Loved the cafe-style lobby with all the books and convenient place to plug in a laptop. Could hang out there anytime and the WiFi was great. Very convenient as sometime I needed to work from the hotel. Super helpful friendly staff. Used the laundry facilities. Close to subway station. Room was nice and super clean. Highly Recommend.

Unique design (I mean, books!) and extreme functionality and cleanliness of the rooms. Good position, near to the train station, amazing coffee. Great spot also for catching up on some emails. Staff very helpful and allowed us to check in earlier. Would definitely recommend!

AustraliaSad to say the great design does not extend to blackout blinds. Rooms facing the park which is lovely also face the sunrise (4.30 am summer). Maybe bring an eyeshade. There is an ice machine and microwave on 2nd floor so rooms here might be noisy. Would be nice if some foreign language books were on a lower shelf for non Japanese guests as the ladder is a bit of a hazard. We used it anyway!
Stylish Jap-Scandi boutique hotel with cleverly designed rooms. Our moderate double overlooked the park, had enough storage for luggage and an armchair beside the.sliding doors of a tiny balcony. Beds comfy (one side against the wall) and bathroom was super clean. Coin laundry on ground floor. Bookshop/cafe creates a homely reception area. Staff could not do enough to make you feel welcome. Loved it!

PhilippinesNone, everything was excellent
The hotel is close to the subway station (maybe around 3-5 minute walk), which is one station away from the Main Nagoya Station. Thus, very convenient to travellers, even with luggage. The hotel has a cafe and a library at the lobby. Guests are allowed to borrow two (2) books while staying at the hotel. Rooms, which is common (I think) in Japan, is kind of small. Maybe, if you’re a backpacker or with small luggage, two (2) people can stay in one room. But it would be more convenient for one person to stay in a room. Rooms are also clean, well lit, with an air purifier, and a couch area. bathrooms are equipped with toiletries, i.e., shampoo, conditioner, handsoap, body wash. Other toiletries like toothbrush, hairbrush, etc. Are at the ground flr elevator. The hotel has nearby restaurants, Donki, convenient stores.

United StatesThe rooms are tiny. My husband and I got a bible room for ourselves and it felt really tight to move around in.
The property is whimsical, clean, new and super cute. We had 3 different rooms for our family of 5 (teens). The best room was the one with two twin beds.

GermanyThe AC unit in our room was fairly loud when in operation, so much so that it was difficult to sleep with the AC on. Turning the AC unit off is also not an ideal solution, as the heat and humidity in Nagoya during the warmer months will make sleep equally difficult.
This hotel really shines thanks to its friendly staff and unique concept. The book cafe on the ground floor offers a great area to relax, work and/or read, which is especially welcome after a long day in the city. You can even take up to two books to your room, making this a particularly nice hotel for longer stays. The hotel itself is located in a quiet area close to Fushimi station and offers easy access to the more popular sightseeing/nightlife areas of Nagoya. Despite the fairly compact room size, the rooms were nicely designed, cozy and had a smart layout which offered sufficient space to handle even larger pieces of luggage. We also enjoyed the a small balcony, which is a rather rare in Japan. Another benefit are the two washing machines with built-in dryer on the ground floor, making this hotel an ideal stop on longer journeys.

SingaporeIdeal if the room for 2 pax is a little bigger. Nonetheless, it is still functional.
(1) Nice concept that one has access to a range of books to read and a cuppa beverage within reach. (2) Access to rooms has an added level of security. (3) New housekeeping practices.
