The pillows were a bit stiff and the futons were harder than others I've used.

This house was really nice and had a great layout. The bath was nice and the little garden you could see from the dining area was cool. Good location if you don't mind walking a little to get back to the main area.

The main door is very tight, small and narrow. Therefore we had to use the slidding door of the room at first floor to enter the house.

It'd be nice if there was a USB power point for the overseas travellers :) we asked the Rinn reception for a portable one but they didn't have one for hire at the time.

A beautifully appointed house with a mix of old and new. The tatami aroma and the zen garden made me feel instantly relaxed coming from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. A tranquil gem!

I was 100% satisfied, though I wished the check out time was a bit later so we can enjoy a leisurely morning.

Great place, traditional architecture, amazing natural hot spring water, great traditional food which you could ask to change due to dietary restrictions at extra charge. If you don't have a car, ask the information desk at the main station so they can send you a free ride to their hotel.

The paid-for taxi ride from reception to the property was very helpful on the first day. Neighborhood was quiet and it felt like we lived there. It was nice to feel like we were coming home to a friend's house and our favorite part was resting in the tatami room in the mornings and evenings.

Unfortunately, the check-in time is late (3pm) and the check-out time early (10am). If you want to use 3 bedrooms when travelling with friends/ colleagues you have to ask for an extra bedding and tatami mat to be prepared against a charge.

The location of the house was good, between the main train station and the center of Kyoto. It is a 20min walk to the main attractions of Kyoto. The house has a sufficient size. During the winter time heating via the air condition is provided and sufficient for most rooms. However, it was very cold in the bathroom. The key collection was at the Rinn hotel near the station, which makes for an extra stop before reaching the house. Some restaurants are close by.

Nothing! Everything was perfect.

A whole house to ourselves. the property was very new and kept superbly clean. Loved the lovely Japanese-style interior with full on tatami and futons down to the cozy living area. bathroom came with a tub to soak away the fatigue from a long day of travelling. Location was great - could have walked to Kyoto station though we did not try. Metro station Gojo was a 10min stroll away. We are a family of 4 adults and we’re very comfortable and impressed with our stay here.

Rooms have very low sound and light isolation because of the roots in an older building, so hopefully your group will go to bed at the same time. Watch your head if you’re taller than 5’10”!

Nice to have a bit more space to stretch out in than a hotel room. being in a renovated machiya was very charming. Location very convenient for the station or downtown (~15 minute walk each way) laundry machine very handy.

Nothing I can think. But if you have a little toddler, this might not be a good place to stay because staircase is pretty steep.

It was very cozy and comfortable. Much more spacious than staying hotel. Our kids (11 and 7 years old) loved to stay here.
