Wish it was a bit clearer to us we needed to book the traditional meal in the room early, it had booked out when we arrived :(

Luxurious feeling, extremely comfortable futons (duvet was like a cloud), lovely baths, delicious traditional breakfast, lots of little comforts (packs for onsen, matcha on arrival, gift upon leaving), good location for shopping, food and transport

Very lovely experience in center of Kyoto. Staff is very kind and respectfull. Dinner on room was very tasty and refreshing, maybe a bit more pricier. Onsen is amazing. Lot of amenities on room. We were given a earlier breakfast on request. A bit more modern ryokan than most I visited Older lady serving golf was lovely!

It's uniquely different from any typical hotel. It has a boutique feel that captures the traditional style of living. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. You even get a special introductory welcome when you first check-in, which was a nice fun touch. The location of the hotel is pretty on point, since it's in a prime area for shopping and eating.

I enjoyed the whole ryokan-style experience and can't think of any significant detractions.

The location is decent, downtown Kyoto and fairly accessible. Japanese breakfast included is great, as is the onsen, which includes both a jet and bubble tub. Clean and staff very hospitable (it was raining and someone shook, dried, and folded our umbrellas for us). A little take-home bag is provided to guests in their rooms.

Our room had no view or natural light. Couldn’t quite get bidet was to work, but we’re British, used to no bidet anyway. Very minor considering everything else was perfect.

Excellent location for exploring Kyoto. The Onsen was perfect, including a jacuzzi. Staff are incredibly friendly and food was amazing.

We loved everything!!

The staff were all very warm and welcoming. They helped my family find a wheelchair and taxi for me when I needed to go to the hospital with a high fever and shortness of breath. The welcoming with tea and cookies and goodbye gifts of beautiful chopsticks were wonderful!! A very nice location also in a charming and quiet part of Kyoto!!

Traditional Japanese breakfast was beautiful with many new things to try each day. It is worth the experience to purchase. The tatami mat floors in the room are wonderful and the futons are so comfortable. Such a treat. Staff is very kind and helpful.

When comparing to some other hotels, onsen/sento baths could have been better. Just a bath and no restroom to sit a relax a bit. No cold bath, no sauna. Just good to come wash and go. Expected a bit more from such a hotel.

The staff are absolutely amazing, the breakfast is out of the world and very interesting experience. Room was big, location is very convenient. Everything for a good stay.

The staff were friendly and kind. Dinner at the ryokan was beautifully presented and fantastic. The breakfasts were also beautiful and excellent. The onsen was a great way to end the day. Location also was great. Easy walking distance to metro access, Nishiki market, Dion district. The neighborhood had many interesting shops and restaurants.

Breakfast was nice, but would be better if got choice for continental items eg toast for the little children who might be unused to Japanese breakfast

The ryokan is very big and clean. The room is enourmous with bed and table always ready (so you don't need the staff to prepare the bed for for you as the room is big enough). The staff was super nice and they gave us a lot of "small" gifts. Very apreciated. The location is central and well connected for visiting Kyoto

Nothing - this was the perfect hotel for us in an amazing city.

If you are in Kyoto, we can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious, the breakfasts are a wonderful surprise, and the baths are an experience. The hotel staff couldn’t have been nicer and we loved the farewell banner!

Beautiful ryokan, cared for in every detail with onsen available and located in an area full of shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the futons were very comfortable. At the check-in they offered us as a welcome sweets and matcha tea, at check-out they left us a little thought. In the room possibility to wear yukata. Exceptional typical breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel for what felt like a more traditional experience.
