How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing. We had a lovely time.
The two bedroom apartment was very well appointed, nicely decorated, good amenities, very clean. The beds were comfortable and the washing machine was very handy. The location is great, very central and close to the subway. We very much enjoyed being able to relax in the apartment after long days exploring Kyoto.

It is a beautiful little property in a great location, nestled away on a back street. Staff are the friendliest, most helpful people we have met in Japan, which is saying something. If you have a little extra cash, spend it staying here.

Great location, large rooms with useful efficient facilities (really appreciated the washer/dryer and dining table). An easy walk to train station, supermarket and cafes... but what we'll remember most about this stay was the helpful and friendly staff. In particular, our thanks to Chiara who was welcoming on arrival and went the extra mile to provide information, and organising the return of a backpack (that we left on the bullet train and ended up 600km away) that made our stay extra special.

Supposed to have 5 single beds but there were only 4 single beds. There are 2 Adults and 3 children
Love everything about this place. Feels at home the moment we set our foot. Room was clean and comfortable.

Washer and dryer combo was a bit small so can only take a few clothes and took 4 hours for a single wash and dry. Sandals was very thin so was hard on the feet.

Everything was wonderful
We cannot thank the staff at MIMARU Kyoto Central enough for making our short stay in Kyoto so wonderful. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, all of the staff were welcoming and answered all of our queries, no matter how big or small. The two-bedroom apartment was super spacious and clean, with great amenities and we would highly recommend. The bedrooms were a great size, especially the master bedroom which had an ensuite and walk in robe, which were great additions The apartment also had a washer and dryer which was super convenient for our group as we were able to launder our clothes without the stress of finding a laundromat. The apartments are super close to the Karasuma Oike subway stop (3-minute walk) which is three stops from Kyoto Station and a 20 minute bus trip to Yasaka Shrine. MIMARU Kyoto Central also had a drinks station in the lobby which was a lovely touch. The staff were also kind enough to organise for our bags to be transported to our next hotel in Tokyo to save us the hassle of moving our luggage with us of the Shinkansen and through the subway stations. Finding out if restaurants were open and available was also not a problem for the staff, who kindly rang around for us to ensure we could enjoy some local cuisine. A big thanks to all staff (including Seth, Chiara, Roy, Jungmin, George and Shiei) for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable!

Staff were amazing. Young, vibrant, international, knowledgeable, engaging. Kids loved them. Room was great -- BIG, but still cozy. Washing machine and toaster in room. Located near transfer hub of Karasuma Oike.

Our room happened to be ready early and we were allowed to check in around 1pm. We received excellent recommendations for food and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We’d ordered a Christmas gift for our child and the package was received by the hotel. When the staff on duty found out that the package was a Christmas gift, she went the extra mile and dressed up as Santa Claus and delivered the gift to our room! It was a lovely gesture and a wonderful surprise for our child. I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent facilities and attentive service.

Traveled here for my honeymoon while also meeting up with two bestfriends celebrating a birthday. Staff found out my wife and I just arrived from Mt. Fuji, and got us a personalized welcome card along with a celebratory bottle of wine. Absolutely loved the hotel staff here more than any other place I've visited in Japan.

I did not dislike anything, the only feedback for future travellers is to get a card from reception with the address of the hotel, written in Japanese as the taxis found it difficult to find being a new hotel.
Lovely big room, great facilities, very clean and the staff were absolutely delightful.

My family and I had a wonderful time at this Mimaru. The 2 bedroom suite was absolutely perfect for my family and so spacious. I loved having my tea on the tatami area in the morning and an en suite washer/dryer was amazing. Kind, friendly, and helpful international front desk staff made us feel welcomed! The location was perfect, near both the Tozai and Karasuma line. Walking Distance to Nijo-jo castle and Nishiki Market. Plenty of food options around. My group agreed this was our favorite hotel of our entire trip.
