I originally booked a room that I didn’t realise had no windows nor it was communicated on the room details - I felt so claustrophobic when I got in the room. We had to change/upgrade. The team was supportive and moved / upgraded us to another room.

Interior design - it was unique. I’ve stayed at art hotels over the years and Mogana was different (‘good’ different ) - style, theme, colour scheme used. The team was very helpful. They accommodated my dietary restrictions. I enjoyed our room with the balcony. Rich in natural daylight. The bed was very very comfortable. Very clean and tidy. Bang&Olufsen speaker was a great touch of detail. I didn’t mind the 15-20min walk to the main touristy area. I will stay here again!

Some noise from neighbors. Room was lacking some practical amenities, e.g. hooks for coats, space for suitcases which is of course linked to the minimalistic design of the room (so nothing really negative).

Beautifully appointed and spacious room. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Tasty and gorgeous breakfast that is served in your room and changes daily. Well located in a calmer side street.

Bathroom is a bit dimly lit and it would have been nice to be able to keep the balcony door often for fresh air.

The staff were lovely. Very welcoming, friendly and always helpful. The property looks very unassuming located on a quiet street. It is within walking distance of all the main attractions but removed from where the hoards of tourists are, thankfully. We were able to enjoy some neighbourhood gems for dining, thanks to the staff recommendations. The room is spacious. Breakfast was always a variety of delicious food and amazing!

MOGANA was a beautiful, serene boutique hotel to retreat to at the end of a busy day of exploring. The facilities were exceptional, especially the bathroom with beautiful products. Standout was the in-room breakfast experience which alternated between Japanese and Western food. Just stunning and good value for money.

Important : the rooms really need blackout / occultant curtains. There was only a thin yellow curtain letting in 70% of the light from outside, difficult for people used to sleep in the dark. Unfortunately I did not have very good nights of sleep despite the high bedding quality because of this Also: there should be a way to keep the balcony door open without holding it , to aerate the room Apart from these 2 comments everything was really perfect

-Room was very beautiful and clean, very comfortable. There was a dressing room so the luggage could be stored comfortably. Nice drinks in the fridge. -Bathroom is amazing, bathtub is huge, allowing excellent baths after long days of walk - breakfast was diverse and tasty - employees were perfect, very helpful and efficient - I really liked the design of the hotel and the bar - excellent location

The hotel was phenomenal. It looked like it was relatively small, and very quiet. The service was also amazing, the staff was very polite, gave us a few pieces of info upon check-in, and also escorted us to the room and showed us around. Breakfast is served daily in the room, according to what time we informed them the day prior, and the styles rotates every few days ( unfortunately only stayed two days, so we got Japanese style and Western). All in all, it was a fantastic stay, and we shall be back to MOGANA on our next Kyoto visit.
