The road facing rooms are a bit noisy, ear plugs recommended. It is a bit far from main temples and restaurants to walk there, but very close to the convenience store.

My traveling companion is allergic to gluten and the personel put together a complete breakfast that suited their needs - gluten free bread, salad, dressings, etc. The personel was exceptionally good, great service, very kind and they even upgraded us to a bigger room free of charge when it wasn't booked anymore. Additionally, they offered to drive us to the local train station when we were leaving. The onsen baths were good, the location great, the local scenery was also perfect for a stroll. Overall a 11/10 experience, the personel service goes unmatched anything I have ever experienced during my travels.

Room had two separate beds. Rooms didn't have their own shower, but the hotel had 2 private onsens to wash and bathe so it was not a problem. Hotel was a 30mn walk away from restaurants at night.

The reception was very kind and helpful. They kindly dropped us off at the station by car at the end of our stay which we really appreciated as it was unexpected. The onsen was really nice.

Mattress is very firm, Pillow is too thick and firm, There is distinct smell of burning fuel inside the hotel from the gas heaters but if room is properly ventilated and widow open it is not that bad.

The distance of the accoms was between the city centre and lake Chuzenji - which works either way! The hospitality and service of the hosts were amazing - just like the other reviews! Dinner cooked by Yoshi-san was just superb and amazing (a must book if you stay here!!)

Google Maps didn’t direct me to the right place initially. Search “Morí no uta” instead.

The mother and son that run the place are so kind. Each day before I set out for my hikes the proprietor handed me a bag of snacks. There is also two wonderful private onsens that were free each time I sought to use them. Lovely place.

As what other guests have commented, the property is a bit old, but I agree when they say it adds to the charm of the place.

The mother and son owners of Morinouta are the nicest people I've met in Nikko. They show geniune concern for guests - when I told them I wanted to eat udon for lunch, they called up many restaurants to look for one serving udon and the son even drove me to that restaurant, and this was even before my scheduled check-in at 3pm. Before going for a day hike, they packed a breakfast for me (with banana, a bottle of water, bread and small cookies) and breakfast was not even included in the package I paid for. The son also gladly drove me to the next guesthouse I booked for my the next two days of my stay in Nikko. The two private onsen in this guesthouse are heavenly, I had a nice soak after my hiking in Nikko National Park, took away all the exhaustion.

It was a little hard to locate at first but later realized it was very near to bus stop (#14) near the high school. And I wish there was a kettle in the room or maybe hot water at the reception

The owners are some of the kindest people I have ever met, they genuinely improved my stay in Nikko. The hotel is conveniently situated along the main bus route and is a 15 minute walk from kanmafaguchi. I would love to stay here again!

I think that words won't be enough to describe how amazing my experience at Morinouta was. The inn itself is cozy and there's a lovely guest area. There are two hot baths that can be used privately at anytime. The location is very convenient and the bus stop 3 minutes away. The owner and staff are the best. Extremely kind, caring and generous. They took such good care of me and made my stay absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend this inn.
