Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The room is very clean, comfy with a great view! The location is PERFECT, right next of Nara park, walking distance to the main attractions, surrounded by shopping area and lots of restaurants. Our room is facing the Three story pagoda, on the balcony the view is just what I expected, in the morning you can heard bells from Kofuku-ji temple, its so peaceful, so enjoyable. Very clean and spacious rooms for the price with excellent location. Some rooms even have view of the pagoda. Make sure to ask for one as they get booked pretty soon. The Inn is right opposite Nara Park and close to all sightseeing places in Nara. But still away from the commercialised area. Very beautiful and quiet in the morning and the evening when all day trippers have left. The staff speaks English and are very helpful. They even helped us book vegetarian izakaya which was a huge hit.

United Arab EmiratesThere was nothing to dislike! We were comfortable and content for 5 days. Just other guests being loud when really common sense would say to be quieter was the only issue. Voices travel easily in Japanese accomodations, so hearing an argument or loud Mediterranean discussions did get annoying.
The room was huge, a family could comfortably stay for multiple nights (2 double beds and a fold out sofa). There was even a large kitchen for budget travellers. A konbini, 2 washing machines (¥300) and dryers (¥100) even a communal bath in the basement -if you haven’t used one on your trip it gives you an idea. The bathroom was clean and the tub regular size with great hot water. My daughter and I felt very safe here and she really enjoyed making origami with the staff. We used it as a base to explore beautiful Nara prefecture. The Kintetsu station was an easy walk from here. I loved waking up to our view every morning.

SpainEverything was fantastic and exceeded my expectations!
This is the best place you can stay at for the price, I can assure you. The rooms are clean and comfortable. So is the bathroom, shower, etc. The location is fantastic, you can walk everywhere in Nara: The Park and Temples, the Naramachi district, the train station... The staff is amazingly nice and kind, you can tell they like their job and they enjoy dealing with travellers. I had the chance to meet Mrs Gao in the Reception Desk, and she was absolutely marvellous!!! I want to thank her again and again for her attention and kindness. I will 100% stay here again if I am back in Nara.

AustraliaAn extra pillow per person would have been nice but given the nature of the accommodation we understand why there weren’t extra pillows.
Our twin room with sofa bed at Nara Visitor Centre and Inn wasn’t fancy but it was clean, comfortable, spacious and well priced for a two night stay. Our room had an excellent view (issued to those that book first) which helped make our visit particularly memorable. We loved the location which was quiet, near Nara Park and not too far to walk to the restaurants, shops and both train stations. We would certainly like to stay again if we return.

AustraliaThere was nothing I did not like. The property was basic but provided everything you need.
Our room was exceptional value for money in the middle of Nara. Large room with view to Pagoda. Easy walking distance to sights, restaurants, shopping and train stations. The staff were very helpful and fun with the extra activities. Nothing was too much trouble. This was out last stop in Japan before flying home. Nara was a great destination for 3 nights to finish our holiday. Don't just come for the day, stay longer in Nara.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. As soon as we arrived, they recommended a festival that was happening at a nearby temple which we would not have known about if not for them. It was amazing. They were very complimentary of my broken Japanese, and understanding. What is underrated about this place is that it is also a cultural centre, on the ground floor there are free Japanese activities to do like origami and kanji calligraphy. There are also paid activities like a traditional tea ceremony which is delicious. For stamp collectors, there are stamps here too. The location is well positioned between both Nara train stations, and closer to Nara Park. Shops, nature and restaurants are all within a very short walking distance. Also had a beautiful view. Other benefits were traditional Japanese pyjamas and the downstairs onsen. I will stay here again when I return to Nara! Arigato gorimazu!
