Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThe best place I have stayed during my trip in Japan! The staff are very kind and accommodating and the room is very clean and spacious. I wished I had spent more days in this place. They also have a public bath that I was able to use by myself. They also have a shared kitchen for guests on every floor, hence you can also cook your own food and you can borrow cooking utensils from the staff. There is also a supermarket a few minutes walk from the inn. They have a 24/7 laundromat that charges the lowest compared to all the hotels I've been to during the trip. In the lobby of the inn, they have a lot of pamphlets and recommendations of what to explore in Nara. Overlooking the window is already the five story pagoda and just a few minutes walk is already Nara park and a street for food and shopping. A very serene place especially in the morning! They also let me keep my luggage there even after I checked out as I wished to explore the place more. 100% will go back if I come to Japan again

United StatesThis place is amazing. The staff really put in so much effort to be helpful and answer any questions. There is a common area downstairs near check-in where they will have calligraphy and origami going on for free. The staff, and Jay in particular spent lots of time just hanging out with us, talking, and helping us work through the origami. They will write your name in Kanji for free, and it looks really nice. The rooms are large and clean, and many of them have views towards the pagoda. The location is super close to the park and all of the main attraction within it. There are lots of great food options nearby including cafes and breakfast spots. This place is an absolute gem, especially with how reasonable the pricing is for the rooms here and everything you get that comes with it. We overall had a much more memorable experience in Nara than we were expecting and it was in large part due to stay at this Inn and Visitor Center. Stay here if you can!

GermanyThe Nara Visitor Center & Inn, located in the heart of Nara, is a truly unique establishment that seamlessly combines the functions of a tourist information center and a charming hotel, and as such, its not comparable to standard hotel-like accommodations. Do not expect communal areas or rooms to be adorned with fresh and fancy designs, but if you're looking for value for your money, you'll have to look far and wide to find something even close. Nestled just a stone's throw from the serene Sarusawa Pond and within walking distance of Nara's most revered temples and shrines, the Nara Visitor Center & Inn offers an unparalleled experience for those seeking to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Japanese culture. But what really stood out to me was the consistently exceptional customer service I received from the Nara Visitor Center & Inn staff throughout my stay. Their attentiveness, friendliness, and genuine passion for Japanese culture were evident in every interaction. They went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of exceptional, answering my questions with patience and providing valuable insights into Nara's rich history and traditions. My six-night stay at the Nara Visitor Center & Inn was an unforgettable journey into the heart of Japanese culture. It was a place where I could truly slow down, appreciate the beauty of simplicity, and reconnect with myself. If you seek an authentic and transformative cultural experience, I wholeheartedly recommend the Nara Visitor Center & Inn. It is a place where you can truly embrace the essence of Japanese hospitality and create memories that will last a lifetime.

The best place ever on my trip. You have balcony which overlooks the tower. Great staff, very good english. You have a whole store in the basement. If you ever go to Japan, you have to stay in traditional Japanese room for full immersion.

NetherlandsThe view from a tatami room overlooking the Sarusara pond and Kofukuji Temple would be enough. Add to that an on-site konbini, a public bath, and a very helpful staff ... "value for money" doesn't do the place justice.

NetherlandsThe room was cold, as the windows let a lot of cold air through, we had to compensate with the heating
Unbeatable position, next to the pond. View of the pagoda. Room was fairly big, and rhe price was far less than other hotels. The center has interesting activities for kids, like dressing up and calligraphy lessons. Very nice staff, speaking good English
