Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The whole space was beautiful, peaceful, and spacious with a comfortable bed. We had a great experience with the traditional breakfast and recommend the private bath if you have the opportunity. We highly recommend this ryokan and would definitely come again if we can.

SingaporeToo sad it was a short stay for just a nice. Price might be on the steep side but well worth
Amazing stay at the property, staff were very attentive and made us felt welcome right from the start when we walked through the front entrance. We were there early so we left our bags and went for lunch. When we came back, our room was ready and our bags already brought into the room. Welcome reception was a nice touch and dinner service was impeccable. The private bath was rejuvenating after a long day out. Breakfast service was delicious.

United StatesAbsolutely nothing! Sad we had to leave.
This was by far our favorite stay over our 3 week honeymoon in Japan. The staff and hospitality is remarkable and the property is gorgeous. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with 3 different types of teas as well as champagne in the beautiful lounge area. Every area of Nazuna was gorgeous - it has the traditional zen Japanese feel mixed with a modern design touch. You can tell so much thought went into designing every inch of the property. Our room was even more beautiful than we imagined. The semi outdoor bath was so relaxing and looked out into our private garden. We had everything we could’ve possibly needed provided to us and the room was so beautiful and relaxing that we even stayed in one night because we wanted to spend more time there. On top of that, the staff made our honeymoon so special and memorable. They even made us a handmade card, a private dinner and s’mores on halloween night. The location was great as well - in a quiet area but a 5 minute walk to the subway and a short walk to the main city center. I cannot express enough how wonderful our stay was here from start to finish. We can’t wait to visit again next time we are in Japan and cannot thank Nazuna enough for making our stay so wonderful!

Our 2-night stay at the luxurious Ryokan in Kyoto was an exceptional experience in every way. What really stood out to me was the beauty of the design, architecture and decor, and also the remarkable spaciousness of the rooms provided an exceptional level of comfort that really made a difference. Furthermore, the high-level equipment present in the rooms, from the furniture to the amenities, contributed to a truly luxurious and pleasant experience. The highlight, however, was the impeccable service from the staff. They were incredibly caring, attentive and available at any time. Their friendliness and dedication to meeting guests' needs were remarkable. Furthermore, I was surprised by the small touches, such as the air freshener they offered, the relaxing experience in the private bath and the offer of unlimited drinks and snacks, something rarely seen in hotels, but than in this one made the difference. In addition to the previously mentioned points, I would like to highlight the highly personalized breakfast experience. Each couple has a dedicated cooker, which makes the meal truly unique and adapted to our preferences. A small addition that could perhaps improve the experience even further would be the inclusion of some intercontinental elements in the breakfast. Although the Japanese gastronomic experience was wonderful, having the option of bread and eggs, for example, could please guests who are not so fond of typical Japanese food. However, this is just a small detail in the midst of a practically perfect stay. Another notable point is the organization of the team, which ensures that you feel like you are in an exclusive and private environment. During your stay, you rarely notice the presence of other guests at the hotel, thanks to the careful attention of the staff. It's like we had the whole place to ourselves.

AustraliaWe only stayed here for a night..... 3 days 2 nights would've been better. I haven't had the chance to try the bathtub in our room because we tried the private onsen, or take our time relaxing in our room and Irori lounge.... I wish we stayed here longer 😔
The building looked unassuming from the outside, but once you're inside, it's a beautiful combination of traditional and modern architecture. Our room was very nice and spacious with separate rooms for bed, living room, bathroom and toilet.. there's even a small garden in the middle. You can unwind and relax in a lounge called Irori lounge that offers free snacks and drinks, available for 24 hours, and you get a bowl ochazuke for late night snacks served in your room. We had breakfast included in our package, which was an Irori style breakfast where part of the food was cooked fresh right in front of you with charcoal, we chose wagyu for our main dish, and it was delicious! But what blown us away was their amazing hospitality!!! The level of service and attention to detail were outstanding. Ayaka looked after us during our stay, we had a nice chat with her when we had cold sake in the lounge before dinner. She listened to our stories about our honeymoon, our long journey in Japan, and my love for Studio Ghibli. When we're back from dinner and took us to our private onsen, which was amazing and very relaxing and you should definitely try it if you stayed here, not only she had prepared us some Japanese sweets and cold drinks, but a note with a little honeymoon gifts for us to use in Tokyo and she even fold Totoro from a towel 🥰

Hong KongIt was a wonderful experience! Stayed at Nazuna Gosho for two nights, booked the big room with a private little garden and a bath. Hotel location is very convenient, just a few minutes from the underground station. Nice and peaceful neighbourhood. Amenities in the room were adequate and quite premium. The setting of the room was amazing - traditional house with modern equipment and delicate layout, making you wanna stay in for the entire day! It felt really nice to sit in the garden and had a cup of hot matcha! Even better, prepare yourself a hot water bath in the private tub to kick away the after-flight soreness! Staff members were attentive and friendly. They would always try their best to fulfill whatever requests of yours. All the receptionists and cleaners were very helpful and cheerful! Tried the light-show hot bath. Soft music with changing of lights, pretty Zen and meditative. Very much to my liking! I would highly recommend Nazuna Gosho to all! They offer different types of rooms, fitting different group size. But don’t forget to reserve your room early as they always got booked out! Nazuna Goshi did make my Kyoto trip complete!

Nazuna Kyoto Gosho is a unique experience with the friendliest staff! Our room was very comfortable, amenities were great, and the Onsen was so relaxing! Also, the pajamas are super soft and comfortable!!! We were served incredible breakfast/dinner during our stay. The food is grilled over charcoal in front of you, and every bite was delicious. If you’ve never had sukiyaki before, highly recommend trying it here! The front desk staff is very helpful! They even offered to help us book a reservation for a rooftop bar, and they also gave us great local dinner recommendations! Would absolutely stay here again!

United StatesNothing! Everything was great. Will note that the luxury room with open air bath is mostly open air, so the bedroom and living room are separated by a small outdoor walkway. So is the shower and toilet. The photos are a bit confusing otherwise.
Breakfast and dinner experiences were both amazing. Staff was very friendly and expert cooks. Food was grilled over charcoal at the table, so it was a wonderful experience. Room was unique, very comfortable. Outdoor bath was relaxing and a lot of great amenities.

United KingdomIt is no one's fault but there was construction happening next door during our stay which made for some loud noises, but we were out of the hotel most of the time they were going on so that made it much more bareable
The staff were very friendly and spoke enough english they could explain everything to us. The building itself was wonderful, the provided dinner was *exceptional* cooked right in front of us by a lovely chef, and the bath and light show were amazing and very relaxing. The best place we've stayed so far!

United StatesI hated that we had to leave!
ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING - If I could give Nazuna a higher score than 10, I would do so without hesitation. My sister and I were welcomed warmly as soon as we stepped foot in front of the door. Haru-san settled us in very warmly and gave us a nice tour of the grounds, and welcomed us kindly with complimentary drinks and snacks from the lounge. Our Monoka room was so inviting, comforting, and had a wonderful wood-like and clean scent. We opted to book for the private bath, which spanned 40 minutes, and that was a perfect amount of time to prepare for the bath, enjoy the sweets provided to us, and enjoy the bath with the accompanying light show and soothing music. If anyone booking here has the option, you MUST have your dinner and breakfast provided. After our relaxing bath, we had a multi-course sukiyaki dinner prepared by the same Haru-san that welcomed us. As she prepared and cooked each course, she explained to us the ingredients and answered our questions with great patience. The breakfast was also delightful as we were given a delicious Japanese-style breakfast that was not only cooked in front of us (as our dinner was) but also served in a fascinating, spherical bento-style dish. It's very important to note that even before our arrival date, a representative from Nazuna was in contact with me through the Booking.com messaging inbox about any allergies or food aversions we had. They are incredibly and preemptively considerate and hospitable well before we even stepped foot onto the grounds. As we left, my sister and I agreed that staying here was an awe-inspiring experience, and it may just ruin our future stays at other establishments. I wish I took more photos to share in this review, but I only hope that more people take note of this amazing place and the people who work here.

United StatesRecently, my husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Nazuna Kyoto Gosho for three nights. From the serene courtyard to the sliding shoji doors, this traditional kyomachiya (wooden townhouse0 turned hotel truly captures Kyoto's rich heritage. Location: This hotel is the best of all worlds: Located in central Kyoto, it's just a 5-minute walk to the Karasuma subway line and a leisurely 20-minute stroll to Nishiki Market. However, the hotel itself is nestled on a quiet street in a family-friendly neighborhood, making it the perfect retreat at the end of the day. Staff: The staff at Nazuna Kyoto Gosho hotel deserve special recognition for their outstanding hospitality. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted with a flight of teas and delightful wagashi treats. Furthermore, when we casually mentioned our desire to try takoyaki in Osaka, a staff member researched, compiled, and printed a list of recommended takoyaki spots in that city. Their genuine care and personal touch made our stay that much more memorable. Breakfast: Don't miss it. A staff member prepares a basket of fresh vegetables, rice cakes, and your choice of steak or a whole skewered trout in an irori, or traditional sunken hearth. It's hearty and nourishing — just the thing to keep you going for a full day of sightseeing. Accommodation: Our room, named Yokan after a traditional Japanese confection, surpassed all expectations. With two tatami sitting rooms, a comfortable bedroom, and a luxurious bathroom surrounding the miniature private courtyard, it truly felt like a peaceful escape.

CanadaThe duvet wasn’t very breathable so it got very warm at night. I probably could have turned the a/c up but didn’t.
This was a fantastic and absolutely memorable stay that I would highly recommend to anyone! Exactly what we needed after a busy 11 days in Tokyo and Osaka. This hotel can be described as a blend of the old and new. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. We had the semi outdoor bath and it was a lovely experience to bathe in the open. Sipping our tea and staring into the private garden was such a zen like experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They made our stay that much more memorable. We ordered the shabu-shabu for dinner and having our own private chef was so great. Food was delicious and the convenience of dining steps away from our room was nice. We opted for the breakfast as well which was another memorable meal experience. We booked the private onsen which was another very unique experience. I wish we had booked an extra few nights but even just one night was the most relaxed we’ve been in awhile.

CanadaEverything was great
We had an absolutely exceptional stay in the Kashiwamochi room. Everything was extremely special - the friendly and attentive service from the staff, the beautiful decor with traditional but still modern elements, the limitless complimentary snacks and drinks in the lounge, the entire atmosphere was very unique. The highlights for us were the very cute tea flight we received upon check in, the AMAZING outdoor bath which was so serene, sitting and looking out over the little garden with a cup of green tea. The suite itself was so cool and unique as part of the renovated machiya building. The location is great in our opinion - a bit away from the very busy tourist zone but close enough to still walk around easily to many shops, sights, and food. It was quiet and wonderful. Domo arigato gozaimasu! We have already recommended Nazuna Gosho to all of our friends. Stay here for a unique and beautiful vacation! :)

Hong KongI paid for a unit that was smaller than I envisioned or saw on the website. The portable TV was not good, too small and hated having to bring to living room or bedroom each time.
The outside soaking tub was great but it needed more lights at night, and the roof of the tub needed a glass or plastic plane to prevent particles from the tree above falling into the water in the tub. The anniversary cake I ordered and delivered was very delicious and very well made. The food served at dinner and breakfast was vwery good and well thought through.
