What an extraordinary stay! We had one of our best nights in Japan at Okyakuya! From the first minute the service was outstanding, our baggage was transported to our room, car parked. Great room, even tough traditional it was modernized keeping its original charm. Both dinner and breakfast where amongst the best we had in any Ryokan we stayed at. After checking out we where offered additional towels as we wanted to explorer other Onsens in town

Nothing much to do past evening time. Tatami and pillow is not the most comfortable as compared to beds, but this is expected.

Breakfast and dinner that was provided was really good. Staff was really attentive and welcoming as well. They prepared decaf tea for us, even making sure that the meal was catered to what you asked for (no raw food, no beef etc). They helped us to parked the car, and even help to clean the exterior of our car! Room was great to experience local culture. Private onsen facilities was wonderful as well, just need to queue for it.

Staff service was over any expectations, they informed me about the transport situation before I got there and helped me arranging my trip back. The tea in the rooms comes from their fields and is so good. The facility has an old history and is well maintained and beautiful, no need to even mention the onsen inside.. Very good, I recommend to anyone

The road towards the hotel was narrow, beware if you’re driving bigger vehicles.

Fantastic experience! I enjoyed the atmosphere of historic hot spring hotel, and the staffs are very kind and helpful. They will help you parking your car, and guide you about this hotel. My favorite hot spring was the one you can bath while standing with bamboo sticks. The meals were amazing, I was full and satisfied.

We visited during late Feb so it was a little cold around the property (especially when going to the onsen, though after the onsen ur entire body feels so warm u won’t need a heater for a while). The sink in the room doesn’t have hot water though the staff provides a flask of hot water for use. These are still small issues to us and we still really loved our stay.

My husband and I absolutely loved our time here. We stayed for 2 nights and only wished we could stay longer. The room was so spacious and futons were surprisingly comfortable. We could also see the river from our room, and it was the Yunohikari festival so there were lanterns hung around the river. There were many onsen options too and our favourite was the outdoor one where u have to walk along the river to access. And can I say the food (!!!) and staff were amazing, each meal was well curated and delicious. I can’t wait to return one day!

This is one of the most memorable stay in Japan for us, the staff is friendly and the place itself is very calming. We enjoy the onsen very much and the history of the building. Highly recommended to visit!

It is almost impossible to enjoy bath in the morning at checkout day. 10 am staff remove us for cleaning. Understandable but after breakfast, there's no time to enjoy bath since it's already 10 am. Be aware of this. Food was normal but maybe I'm too familiar with japanese food? I don't know.

Great hotel with very kind staffs. Everything was good. If you like drinking sake, you must try sampler which was awesome selection.

Small point - the stairs from the bus stop to the ryokan, and also the stairs from the room to the onsen and dining area. Just have to take care going up and down.

Excellent and friendly service from beginning to end. Room was very clean, the different baths were wonderful. It was the first time I’ve tried an onsen where I could stand up; it was 1.3m deep. There are private baths available too. Loved the welcome snack which was rice cookies using rice which the ryokan grows - I bought a bag home. The lack of hot water during winter didn’t bother me at all, in fact I prefer the warm water jug that was provided. The ryokan is near a bridge over the river for a good photo spot. It’s also near a restaurant with very good Akaushi beef. We had taken a bus to Kurokawa; the ryokan is fairly near the bus stop, though there is a long flight of steps down, which I managed to lug the luggage down. After check out, the staff offered to help with the luggage up the stairs to the bus stop.

great onsen and great staff. dinner is great. breakfast quite small portion but it's still delicious. completely facility and many type of onsen. it's ryokan style that staff provide many services to you. staff has rapid response in booking chat. they have well prepared and ask any concern everything in advance. (eg. allergy or disliked food). they also provided complimentary for any celebration and complimentary.

Food was awesome and they were accomodating towards our preferences. The futons were extremely fluffy and comfortable. We had the river room and the spacious room and amazing view was phenomenal. Super memorable stay with super attentive and friendly staff. The baths were fun and had great history to them. I think it's a sodium chloride spring with some sulfur content for the most part and I think there's another spring that's slightly different. They also swap around the baths morning/evening so that the guests can enjoy different ones!

My parents and I have the very great time in the hotel. The dinner and breakfast is very delicious. The waiters is very friendly and introduce very well. We want to stay here for the next time. The guest come from Taiwan.

Warm services and sincere staff taking care of us during our stay. Delicious japanese cuisine, both breakfast and dinner. Traditional onsen house with 300 years maintained and decorated impressively. Of course recommened when visiting Kurokawa Onsen.

We don't eat meat normally, so found it a bit hard to eat so much meat with every meal!

The staff were so attentive, helpful and kind. It was such a wonderful place, but they were the best part. The room was so beautiful, clean and comfortable. The onsens were well maintained and well run. The food was incredible and a great experience.
