Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GreeceThe price included almost anything you would possibly need (ticket for all the town’s onsens, transfer to and from the onsens via car, traditional clothing,..). The hotel dinner was also a worthy experience

TaiwanAlthough it is a bit far from the main street (about a 5-10 minute walk), there is a very convenient shuttle service provided by the hotel.
The room is spacious and comfortable, the meals are exquisite and delicious, and the staff are friendly and polite. Having Chinese-speaking staff especially adds a touch of warmth and familiarity.

ArgentinaFood served leaves a lot to be desired for the price. We were charged JPY 8,800 for each extra meal, both way below average, plus you eat in a private diner box which has 0 atmosphere. They also mixed up our dietary requests and so one dinner was not properly prepared even though we clarified this many times beforehand. Breakfast was also not that good. Kinosaki has a lot of great bars, cafes & restaurants so I strongly recommend you use your eating budget elsewhere as you will have a much better experience across the board.
Having been to many of the public baths I have to say their Onsen is quite amazing. It’s big, beautifully designed, with interior and exterior areas, both hot and cold bath pools (including a bubbly one) which make for a great bathing experience. The Ryokan is big with a beautiful garden in the middle, rooms are spacious and they provide many amenities including beer in the room. The staff is very friendly and the Ryokan provides regular rides to / from the centre.

SingaporeThe hotel onsen is much better than those 6 public onsen at Kinosaki. We are very delighted with the private dining experience. Food is very exquisite too. The convenience of the shuttle bus to and back from various osen is a plus.

The rooms and baths are beautiful. It's nice that the thermal baths have an internal and external part. Beautiful indoor garden, nice yukatas. We felt very spoiled in this hotel. Dinner and breakfast were huge, even too much, it's a shame to waste so much food. Transport to the center and stations on request. The staff was so polite that it almost made me feel stupid (women carried our suitcases for us). I highly recommend staying at this property.

CanadaNothing - everything was fantastic!!
They provided electric bikes for our early arrival so we can explore while we wait for check in. Once checked in, we were provided yukatas free of charge and onsen bath pass for visiting the other bath houses free of charge. The room is extremely spacious and comes with lots of amenities, including free beer. There is also a lounge with free popsicles, azuki snacks, water and tea along with massage chairs. It was our first time sleeping in a futon, and it was surprisingly very comfortable. The in house onsen was honestly the best onsen we experienced on the whole trip. They have three lovely baths (indoor, outdoor and cold bath) as well as a sauna. The space is meticulously clean and well maintained. Also, the food is insanely good and there’s plenty of it. Dinner included multiple courses and breakfast was quite filling, especially for a long train ride. There is also a free shuttle that will take you from the ryokan to other bathhouses and back. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Honestly, I am looking forward to coming back and this was definitely a highlight in my three week vacation to Japan. Highly recommend staying two nights at least to full enjoy Kinosaki and this lovely ryokan.

United StatesThe Japanese style beds were a little difficult for us westerners to get used to but we managed.
The location of this Ryokan made all the difference on our honeymoon trip to Japan. It was only a short walk into town where we enjoyed shops, food, and other public baths. Although our host recommended a number of baths as being the best in town, we thoroughly enjoyed our own facilities at Onishiya Suishoen. We had a nice view from our room of the inner garden and coy pond. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious and abundant.

AustraliaNothing really, it was nice
Traditional Japanese room, which means everything is floor level and the pillows are made of buckwheat kernels. The room was spacious, comfortable but not luxurious. The bath was very nice, so was the pond and garden, and the dinner I reserved was excellent. A shuttle bus operates from 4pm to the onsen in town but it’s a short walk. It’s quite a large hotel.

EVERYTHING !!! The hotel is very very clean. The Onsen inside the hotel is FANTASTIC !!! Very private and super comfortable. No need to visit the 7 public onsens at all (unless you wanted to try out and compare) The breakfast was so nice and a big spread of food. The staff, including the front desk personnel, the restaurant staff and the important driver. Best of the best staff around. Very polite and extremely thoughtful !! Very good hotel and definitely recommend to anyone who wanted to visit Kinosaki.

Hong Kong1. But the dinner that the hotel offered was just fair. It was not good as we expected. The beef was quite tough, not tender at all. No tempura of any kind was offered. Seafood is just okay. 2. The hotel's free shuttle bus does not run in the morning. Walking to the town is about 15-20 minutes. 3. Most of the shops in the town centre close between 5pm to 5:30pm. 4. Free coffee is available from the coffee machine on the G/F, but it tastes awful.
1. They have a free car park space onsite. 2. They provide free shuttle bus that runs from 4 pm to 10pm to take guests/pick up to/from the town centre where all the public onsens and shops located. 3. The hotel has its own private onsen. After trying both the hotel's and one of the public onsens, I like the hotel's onsen better as it was not crowded as the public one. 4. The breakfast they served was good. We quite enjoyed it. 5. Friendly staff 6. Lovely Ryokan

AustraliaWe only booked one night. That was OUR disappointment. Just wondering if there was a complimentary shuttle to the station if they could have thrown a welcome shuttle as well? The walk to the location was a bit far. I don’t know how in this portal I managed to post an air quality screen shot and not be able to delete it.
It was a wonderful finish to our 3-week holiday. From the time you arrive to when you leave, you were treated as a special guest. Your own private dining AND breakfast experience. The complimentary shuttle to the onsens and to the train station. They even took our luggages to and from our room when we checked in/out. A proper 5-star experience.

United KingdomThe staff were all super friendly, facilities were amazing (clean, aesthetic, and well maintained), food was insanely good (great spread and quality). In-house Onsen was AMAZING! Location is a bit further out than the other ryokans but they provide a shuttle to and back from town so it's fine.

AustraliaThere are not enough stars to give for this hotel. This place is surreal. The staff is the most caring, sweet, personable we have ever met. At the end of the trip they even gave our son (who was wearing a Dragonball shirt) some collectable cards and drawing. That's just a silly example but honestly the staff is too good. The hotel is not on the mail road which to us was a plus because it meant our Onsen was Neve busy. More than once I was the only one inside. Also after trying most of the other Onsens, the one in our hotel is probably the second best.

United StatesThe only downside to this amazing traditional inn, is that it is about a 10 minute walk from the heart of the quaint town. They do have a shuttle
Amazingly well done. They have a shuttle service that picks you up at the train station. The food experience there is second to none. You are served in a private room with multiple exceptional dishes that are colorful, artistically arranged and delicious. To top this off, your mini-fridge contains 3 Large FREE Asahi beers! And there is free coffee 24/7 in the lobby. The hot spring bath (at least the men’s has an indoor and an outdoor component. I loved the outdoor tub. There’s a cold water tub right next to it.

United KingdomThe only issue was it was located a little bit outside of the main highstreet, there were roadworks happening which made walking back to the ryokan a little uncomfortable. but not major issue really! 5/10 minute walk at most to get to the high street.
Cannot express how utterly beautiful this ryokan is! It feels very traditional, like being in a historical movie set! The staff couldn't do enough for you, they were unreliably kind and helpful. I felt I was treated like royalty! The room was equally as beautiful, again, with a very traditional feel, as is clearly intended. The waitress that hosted us for our stay was called Rin, and she was absolutely wonderful. We absolutely will be returning to stay again, thank you for making our first visit to Kinosakionsen a memorable one!
